It is a bit concerning to see us coming up well short of Kentucky and Missouri. But Lane has certainly earned some trust.

I get that, but it's not just quantity that's lacking. Quality has been just OK. Nonetheless, I feel really good with the state of things (nothing like a few years of Matt Luke for your perspective).

The Defensive signees are great but we got one under-rated RB on offense. You would figure that with CLK’s offense we would have a ton of 5*’s beating down the door. Thinking about this it has to be a combination of:
1) CLK’s flirting with HC opportunities and kids not sure if he is going to be here.
2) Our boosters aren’t stepping up in the NIL game which is weird to say.
Per the regulations there isn’t a whole lot we can do about #2 but CLK has all the control in the world with #1. He can tell Sexton that if word gets out I won’t entertain shite and then be very strong when dealing with questions from the media!

To point 1 - I think a lot of it is despite his reputation Kiffin is not a great recruiter. We will pull in top 25 classes every year like this year, but top 15/10 will be rare.
To point 2 - with it legal now you'd think the school and alumni groups would be begging donors for money. I'm not sure about anyone else, but I haven't been asked to increase my donation in 4/5 years. Yes I know the school can't pay players, but they should be giving donor info to alumni groups about it.

Also part one isn’t that big of a deal honestly.
Now with the portal and free transfer of a kid signs at OM because he wants to play for Kiffin then Kiffin bails after the kids first year the kid can transfer penalty free. So it really doesn’t hurt him.
I personally think Kiffin is ahead of the game in understanding how to use the portal and such. I can see the future of all teams as to having smaller high school signing classes then filling other needs through portal and I really think Kiffin with do that again this year. Especially at QB. And wouldn’t be shocked to see a WR follow.
