Let me preface this by saying I’m a millennial and I’m saying this, but I often find myself preferring to listen to the radio coverage of games simply bc if him.

I can’t be the only one can I?

He’s the voice of my childhood growing up.. 29 here as well.. some of the best moments we’ve had as ole miss fans in the last 20 years have been listening to him.

Watching games at home with my dad sometimes, he’ll have his headphones on and he’ll say “ oh watch this” as it’s a second or two ahead of the tv signal.. annoys the crap out of me for spoiling big plays but it’s some of my most cherished times .

I used to make fun of the old dudes at the games wearing their headset radios but the older I get the more I can relate.

Lots of times, out of superstition, I'll cut the sound down on the TV and listen to Kellum. I think it puts a little hex on the opponent sometimes and gets us the win. Maybe it's just me.

David Yell'um?

Nah.

I grew up listening to Jack Buck and Mike Shannon call Cardinals games on KMOX. David Kellum is the polar opposite of those guys. I'd take Jack Cristil over David Kellum any day, every day.

Yeah, I’m only 20 so I’ve never known anyone different but DK is my favorite announcer. It’ll be way different when he’s gone

You can't beat Jack Buck and Mike Shannon. But I disagree with your point on DK. He is great and always a posi-reb even on the most boring of games. I like when he calls out the unfairness of the officials and even scheduling. He is a great play by play.

DK has been around for well over 30 years and he's a Rebel through in through. That's enough for me.

Kellum is awful about updating scores.

Delucci is brutal on SEC Network. He does have a smokeshow wife that is one of the Price is Right girls though.

Kellum is awful-period. He is one of the worst play-by-play announcers in each and every sport. It’s amazing how bad he is.

Unfortunately, most everyone under the age of 40 doesn’t understand that radio play-by-play is supposed to put you in the game without watching it. Every detail is described and the announcer is telling a story and painting a picture for those that can’t see it.

Kellum is terrible at describing what is going on, and his childish yelling is distracting. Instead of describing what is going on, he’s too busy yucking it up. Go listen to some classic Jack Cristil for a good example of college football play-by-play.
