I want LSU to make lane say no, but I’m a huge fan of Sumrall and would be elated if he was the guy. Just seems like he has it.

Regarding the portal timing issue I think that either Florida or LSU would gladly eat a season if they are long term players. Plus Lane is a good enough coach that even with diminished talent his product on the field will be respectable even in that first year.
People see what they want to see. We can give you a million nonmonetary reasons why he is staying. LSU/Florida/Etc. fans will give a million nonmonetary reasons why he should bolt. Media persons are just looking for clicks (monetary).
The truth is that 9.9999 out of 10 times all you need to do is follow the money (both short term and long term financial benefit to parties involved) to get the right answer. This universally applies to almost every historical "why did this or that happen" question from wars to coaching hires.
All things considered we need to financially stay in the game and not be cheap. Unfortunately, this will likely mean making him the highest paid college coach (which is what is inevitably coming in order to match the incoming offers). We do this then we most likely retain him no matter how this season plays out. If he still leaves after that then we move on with no regrets.
I would also add that no matter how crazy that number may be, the way college football is headed, that number will be middle market in a couple of years. Just the sad truth.
Sorry in advance for being a pussy (which is still undefeated) LOL

If lane leaves I absolutely want sumrall which is why I hope lane goes to lsu if he leaves and not UF. Because no way UF hires another G5

I don't have an On3 membership, but apparently that board is a buzz about some large donation to the athletic department bring announced soon. So looks like some boosters are already publicly stepping up

One thing not being discussed is that the Brian Kelly contract buyout (54M) is just the start. You have to buyout all the assistants your new coach doesn't want. That is a likely to be the entire staff or close to it. Writers estimate that would bring the buyout to 100M. Then you have to pay or are likely to have to pay the penalties that your new coach would incur for leaving their school. For Lane Kiffin that is 4M if leaving before December 8 (decreases from there) but would also include the penalty for any coaches he takes with him.

I certainly hope our boosters, alumni and AD do what's necessary to keep Lane. Because one thing's for sure and I just discussed this with DMagic. All this coaching turnover in our conference as well as at Penn State and others is going to cause some rosters to be completely cherry picked. I can't think of a better head coach running the show at a better time than Kiffin in an offseason like this.
Quick AI search: Brian Kelly (LSU), Billy Napier (Florida), and James Franklin (Penn State). Other coaches who have been let go include Sam Pittman (Arkansas), Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State), Brent Pry (Virginia Tech), and DeShaun Foster (UCLA).
Then you consider least one if not two out of Freeze, Norvell and Luke Fickell will be let go as well....

I think we should just enjoy the season. Whatever happens to coaches will happen regardless.
But you’re removing the fun of us being 8-1 and almost guaranteed a playoff spot as long as we win the games we’re supposed to win by stressing over coaching searches.

Lane on the Pat McAfee show just now - "I have never made a decision based on money and I will never do that."

I took at meaning that if he's happy where he is, then he's not gonna get lured away by big bucks to go to a situation where he wouldn't be as happy with his personal life. Certainly makes me much more optimistic on him staying.

[On3] Lane Kiffin promises money will not impact his decision-making in life: “I’ve seen too many examples in life where money does not buy happiness. So I’m never going to make a decision off of money, nor do I care about it. Jimmy Sexton gets really mad when I say that.”

I don't think there's another coach in Division 1 football that would say something like that live on air. He really is funny as hell.

Someone asked Borkey about this on SuperTalk and he said that yeah, someone donated, he thinks, about $20 million to UMAA and that it hasn't been announced yet. I don't know if it was one person or multiple.

Happy there is absolutely no money issue. Since that is crystal clear then kindly sign the extension. Yes right there above the (sign here) sticker.
He is trolling us just like 2022. You hate to see it but more than that you love to see it.

I wish he was gearing up to troll massive balls in the coming weeks however professionally I don't believe he will at all. But that's okay, Lane, I've already been on a rampage on IG for the last four days. I'm slowly moving over to X but me and the wife are having a blast trolling Hamas, over there, currently. All in due time.

I’d rather him spend his time watching game film with the team.

I don't. I enjoy his tweets and trolling and nobody deserves it more for putting the world through the "who will be our coach, we need to know NOW." joy ride, than Florda and LSU.

Dude, when you are on vacation do you stress about going back to work or do you enjoy your vacation?
This is the best position we have been in late in the season for a loooooong time. Enjoy it, brother. The rest will work itself out later.

Generally neither. I am just the pack mule on any vacation and otherwise self employed.
But I hear you and admire your optimism. In my opinion we were in a better position last year than this year and per usual it didn't quite work out. So I am admittedly overly stressed and in a bitchy mood b/c I think we are on the verge of a true program break through, biggly, if we can retain CLK. I do trust Keith to do what's best.
Maybe a little more titty milk talk might help.
