The Joyners are a terrific family! Glad they're staying in Oxford! Straight up good people.

require a serious contract buy/out clause

Realistically, what would that do? The schools LK was courting have demonstrated time and time again they will pay a coaches fee to buy them out of a contract as an “investment in success” without batting an eye.

Good. Let them pay it. More money for our program.

And they won’t pay any fee. There are always non-starters because of buyout figures every year. Dan Lanning hasnt been seriously pursued because of his.

Schools know they can’t match the Nike deal Lanning has while at Oregon. That is just as much a deterrent as his buyout. That deal is rumored to be worth twice his buyout.

Sounds like Frank Wilson as RB coach and Ldamian Washington as WR coach are basically done. Would leave a TE spot open.

Not the most impressive hires in the world.

That's a great hire. What are you smoking? He's also an elite recruiter.

Wilson is a great recruiter. His ability to coach running backs leaves much to be desired

But do we allow him to stay on and coach LSU’s bowl game so we can put out endless press releases about our magnanimity?

Sounds like Austin back as GM and Spurlock coming home as an analyst are done too.

I think that leaves us just missing a TE coach, and rounding out some of the analyst staff

No idea. I know one of the 247 mods listed Joe Connolly (Head S&C coach at Arizona State) as on the short list.

Neal mentioned Tyler Owens from Washington but that was over a week ago and haven’t heard anything about it since.

Judkins was a head case, with main character syndrome, who was always going to transfer at least once regardless of what school he started at. In the case of Lacy, in the transfer portal era, players are usually tied to their position coach. Lacy is at Ole Miss because of Kevin Smith. Kevin was always gonna end up at LSU, but getting officially hired has been complicated by the Frank Wilson situation. LSU wants to keep Frank but he wants an on field role and Kiffin isn’t willing to give him one. Wilson is also the interim coach. Kiffin has to run Frank off before he can officially hire Kevin Smith. You can bet that both Smith and Kiffin have been in Lacy’s ears for months now about following them wherever they ended up whether that was Florida or LSU. It’s not some systemic issue where we(or Kevin Smith) can’t keep running backs. It’s just bad luck for us.
