2009- frick you Evan Button

He short-hopped 3 or 4 different easy tosses to first. Unfortunately the last one wasn't able to get snagged by Matt Smith.

btw while trying to google the name of the first baseman....I came across this.

quote:

With no other MLB interest, he had played a few games in one independent league before signing with the Frontier League's Gateway Grizzlies.

After only six games, though, Gateway realized that Button could not make even the most routine of throws from second and released him.

Did that game give him the yips or was he never able to actually play 2nd and we just never realized it until Supers?

Jesus Christ I’m pretty sure the gateway grizzlies are here in St Louis. I’ve legit seen them play someone from the crowd before

if making routine throws from 2nd to 1st was ALWAYS an issue, I can't hate him for not making that throw...

If that's the case, I can hate our recruiting and development for not being able to find a fricking 2nd baseman. I have no clue who the 2nd baseman for OHS was that year but I guaranfrickingtee you he could make a simple throw

I honestly don’t remember him having issues with it before than UVA game. I think that instance fricked him up and gave him the yips. He was a solid player before that.

Last in the tournament. Last in supers. No issues with being last in Omaha

That kind of defeats the purpose of the article though. I get what you're saying, but they reseeded all 16 teams remaining based on their performance in the regionals. I'd like to point out that this was done by the the Knoxville New Sentinel. So there's that.

This game 3 with diamond is going to be the tightest damn game .

They’re holding Hall for game 2 to even it up most likely to force game 3. And that is my nightmare

Diamond, if need be, will be fine through the lineup one time. Then yank his arse immediately.

Neal made a good point on his podcast last night.

Do you save Hunter Elliot for game 3 and throw Drew McDaniel game 2?

McDaniel already beat Southern Miss and he had 8 strikeouts against them.

if we win game 1 I think it’s an interesting idea and I wouldn’t totally be against it. If we lose tomorrow you have to throw Elliott game 2 imo

This kind of overthinking is why Bianco loses all the fricking time in the tournament. Play your best players game 1 and work your way down the list. It’s not hard

not a fan of fricking with pitching rotations this late in the season. At the very least, just make the call days in advance. Pitchers are funky with how they prepare for a game.
