Why do people get so upset about interracial couples?

I'm not singling out a particular demographic of hater, but specifically when a black man is with a white woman, it generates all sorts of vitriol.
My gf is very attractive, born in Europe but raised in Texas, and their family lineage traces back 1000+ years. There is a town in the Netherlands named for her kinfolk, and her parents couldn't be happier for us and can't wait to have more grandkids.
But then I see dudes (and some gals, but mostly dudes) who neither of us has ever met giving us the stink eye.
I'm aware of the historicity of the matter going back to slavery, but I'm specifically curious about the individual feelings of the offended party.

It's never something that I even considered getting upset about. And in 2016, I doubt you're getting as much hate as you perceive. Dudes get jealous, may have nothing to do with race.

Because you're not in their group. In their eyes you've isolated yourself away from a specific in-group. The out group you've chosen(interracial) is harming their own self-esteem and stereotypes of race. So you receiving glares is them managing their own self-esteem. I imagine you'd receive just as many looks from several races. It's not that their racist, or have something against you, but by degradation they can maintain their own self esteem.

Black girls hate white girls who date black guys because there's already huge competition for the few black men who have careers, no kids, and aren't in prison. They get jealous.
Most young white guys don't care, they're just jealous of the BBC swiping one of their own. They can't date black girls most of the time, so that's one fewer white girl available for them.
Old racist white people are the group you really have to worry about. They hate that stuff because mixing two cultures with strong physical traits and unique cultural traditions leads to children with neither of those cultures or traits. Traditions die and everything becomes Cleveland, aka the same. I don't agree with it, but that's the logic i've heard before.

You should probably move to a less racist state, like, say... Mississippi.
White nephew is on his second black wife, and AFAIK they've never had any racially-related problems. Their kids, though, are another matter and this really pisses me off. To white kids they're black, to black kids they're white. And ostracized by most.

I've experienced the complete opposite. They take on traits and traditions from both cultures. And in the south particularly, blacks and whites are essentially pretty equal in terms of culture. Food, language, sports, hunting/fishing, etc. we are a lot more alike than not.

I know it's out there, it's a shame and hopefully it's gone by the end of our lives.

A large amount of black men have problems with black women dating white guys too. My exes son and his wife who is mixed, get a lot of racial crap thrown their way like that.

Interracial couples are awesome. I married a Filipino(a?). She's only brown on the outside though. I think she's more redneck than me.

Funny you should post this today. Literally just left Gold's Gym this evening after playing basketball and lifting, and while I was there I ran into a middle-aged black guy who was wearing an Ohio state shirt. We made small talk about college football, then talked a little bit about the military (he was retired USAF, apparently).
Talk turned to college again because of my A&M shirt (I always wear either Aggie or Spurs gear when I play), and he asked about the Corps so I pulled out my phone to show him a picture of the Quad. Well, a picture of my wife is my phone lockscreen, and he asked me who the chick was. I proudly told him she's my wife of over 5 years, and his first choice of words after that was: "aw man, what'd you marry a white girl for? They didn't have any black ones at A&M, huh?"
Playing basketball is probably my favorite pastime in the world outside of sex, but I'd never felt my mood go from happy to angry quite as fast as I did just then. I'm still pissed, and this happened an hour ago.
On the plus side, I play better basketball when I'm mad But damn as much as I've gotten better at letting stupid shite like that go, sometimes it catches me out of the blue gets to me.
The crazy thing is, after awhile the novelty of your SO's skin being a different color wears off, and you just become a regular couple with regular ups and downs. Then you meet someone backwards minded and mentally have to reset. Annoying.

Yeah, mine is an animal lover and hates that I hunt. That and aggie football(she's a texas fan :( ) are pretty much the only things we fight about. She's country as hell, tho.
