I'd imagine most college towns are more liberal. Even those in the SEC.

I'm not sure Fayetteville voting for Clinton who's husband was governor of Arkansas is a strong indication of liberalism. Also, there are plenty of people who are not liberals who support medical marijuana including yours truly.

Why didn't you just put all of those into one post?

This is why its always better to raise your family in Bentonville or Rogers. Benton County is solidly red.

The more liberal candidate also won in every single alderman race in the city. Fayetteville is extremely liberal, ranging from punk arse anarchists to old school DNC establishment to green party hippies.

Thanks for combining. I was only going to look at Nashville and Knoxville, then got Google happy and before I knew it had 11 posts.

Oh, they're liberal. Most of the state hates Hillary.

Is that just the city? I think the city was much more Hillary, but the rural part of the county went Trump. I only took a second to look and the actual city precincts appeared to be 75-25 Hillary. That is a town full of bleeding heart liberals and gaping assholes.

lots of those numbers are misleading because they're based on county stats and not city. for example, clarke county (athens) has the same boundary and population as the city while knox county has nearly 3x the population of knoxville. so you're not comparing athens with knoxville. you're comparing athens with knoxville and nearly 300k other people. add the immediate surrounding areas of athens and you would have more similar numbers.

Yep, especially if you compare it to Oxford

Yeah. I mean I get that it's a college town and they lean left but if I had to guess beforehand I'd have put CStat and Starkville as solid red.

the two are remarkably similar in population at the student, city, and county levels. there's one obvious difference. oktibbeha county (starkville) is 37% black. lafayette (oxford) is 25%.
