I worked at an iron foundry for a day that made cast iron stuff. Was hotter than hell having to wear a full face respirator, a big heavy arse rubber apron, and thick as rubber gloves up past my elbows grinding off the nubs of the stuff that was made. Had to stop working about every 10 minutes or so and pour the sweat out of the respirator.

I had two buddies who did that all through school for their family business. The had a general pissy disposition and each would fight a buzz saw at the drop of a hat.

Every college male should work with old heads for at least one summer to gain some perspective. I learned a lot that summer, about maintenance but many other things too.
My only complaint is they went to lunch at Shoneys at least 3 times a week and I was always expected to join. Shoneys fricking sucks, man.

The summer before I went to college, I was a busboy at an all-you-can-eat buffet in Myrtle Beach, SC, which required me to clean the bathrooms at the end of the night. I've seen things that no man should.

Steel factory when I was 18 after high school before starting to AU.
3 months, June, July, August.
I was 18, an athlete in the best shape of my life and that job wore me out. Grown arse man work for real.
Aside from the work (my job was banding steel coils weighing from a few hundred pounds to a few thousand depending on where the had me in the plant each day), it was the heat that was a killer.
Had to wear jeans, steel toed boots, long sleeve shirt, forearm guards, thick gloves, safety goggles, and a hard hat. The heat was just so exhausting and intense. With all that shite on and even in the summer at 90 degrees and 90 percent humidity outside, it still felt good to go outside compared to the hotter temps in the factory, it just sucked. It was my dad's idea to get me the job from a friend to show me what I had to look forward to if I screwed around in college like I did high school. It worked.

I dug ditches.
No, I shite you not, I dug ditches. With a shovel.
It was Florida and they didn't have the budget for machines that could do that in a minute, but they had the budget for me to be out there in oh my Jesus heat and humidity.
My next job was selling socks to overweight retirees and I thought it was manna from heaven.
Granted, because all of my coworkers were very easy on the eyes females.
I went from blisters that damn near reached the bone, to scoring a quickie in the backroom during the slow hours.

My dad made me get a job at McDonald's when I was about 15 or 16. I went to work for my first day and was there almost an hour when my friends showed up. I left with them.

These guys only ate fast food. I didn't dare suggest anything else. I made the mistake of ordering a salad one day at Wendy's because I was so sick of burgers and fries. They brought it up every single day the rest of the summer.
A couple of them were super creepy. We'd get an order to go paint an apartment and they'd get all excited about it possibly being a young, single coed and the porn fantasies would get out there.

Probably dishwasher at an Amish buffet when I was 15.
I'd go home every night smelling like fried chicken.

Convenience store clerk working night shift. You get to deal with the worst of society for the most part

Worked 12 hour shifts at a creosote plant one summer. My job was to climb on the stack of telephone poles just after they were pulled out of the 400° pressure chamber and use a manual core drill to check the depth of the creosote penetration. All of this for $1.25 per hour, after deducting for your safety gear. Yeah, how stupid can you get...
Oh, and today that plant is a Federal Toxic Waste site.

I was a contractor for OPFOR in Georgia, all black, terrible heat but it was surprising how cool 90 degrees could be at the end of a 16 hour shift.
