And possibly a step beyond that-if you are receiving any form of government assistance you should not be allowed to vote.
Poorly thought out.
VA benefits disqualify someone to vote? Disability? Pell grants? Government-subsidized student loans?
It's a ridiculous proposition and would never work for very good reasons.
I am, however, in favor of all people paying taxes, even those on government benefits. And if taxes go up for "regular folk," they go up for everyone. Make everyone a stakeholder in the performance of government.

See what you did there, you fricked around and made sense, YOU CAN'T DO THAT. What's wrong with you

Make updated voter lists and extent every possible effort to get a free government ID into the hands of all registered voters and sure I'm for it.

So you think in-person voter impersonation is a problem?

For.
I'm also against early voting, but that's just me thinking people would want to be as well informed as possible before selecting their representatives. Stupid, right?

for, as long as the ID's are free and appropriate means are established to ensure all people eligible for them are able to get one if they so desire.

I don't really vote.
Once I take over and change the name to United State of Eddie I won't let anyone else vote so i didn't want to be a hypocrite

Yep

A new study shows the benefits of early voting, a practice that is being restricted starting in the 2014 election in North Carolina.

It found that early voting reduces stress on the voting system on Election Day, means shorter lines on Election Day, improves poll worker performance, allows early identification and correction of registration errors and voting system glitches, and provides greater access to voting and increased voter satisfaction.

Oh look, another subject that you are completely ignorant about.
I guess you think all of these that you quoted are more important than curbing voter fraud?
Why do you even try, boy?

i'm normally on the ultraconservative side of the fence of this argument, but i'm with 808 here.
I did get Pell grant my last year of college while working full time and paying taxes.

Uh, yeah. In-person voter impersonation is virtually non-existent. It's certainly not a big enough issue to pass legislation, not even close. Pull your head out of your arse.

interesting that you think that. i don't think it's as rampant as Hannity and Rush would like to believe, but it's more prominent than you would present.

Election Day is not a product or corporation that needs to be competitive. Voting should be as easy as possible, but the efficiency of poll workers and waiting times are of significantly less importance to me than having people absorb all the information available before making a selection.
However, the idea that voting in an election should be as easy as buying a candy bar at the gas station is pretty amusing to me. I'm not trying to disenfranchise anyone, but if someone can't take the slightest bit of time to vote on election day, I don't know that I'm really interested in making it any easier for them.
Maybe I'm old school. Elections are important, being informed is important, and making an effort is important.
