A new poll lists the University of Maryland among the top 25 colleges in the country most friendly toward lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender students
In the past year, the University of Maryland started the Lavender Leadership Honor Society, which administration officials hailed as “the world’s first collegiate leadership honor society recognizing student efforts that help LGBTQ communities to flourish both on and off campus.”
The school also hosted the hosted the “Somewhere Over the Rainbow conference,” which centered around top issues in the LGBT community and education.

Actually despite the narrative on here we are less tolerant as as a community than we should be. It has gotten better, but back when I went to A&M in the mid-00s there were anti-Gay rallies done by students.

Only school in a SEC/southern state. How does this align to the "Kentucky isn't the south" argument?

It was a disappointing to me. No matter what you think about social politics young people should be naive and loving. Not the high point of my college career for sure.
