Getting ran over by a bulldozer, and almost dying.

these stories are bad but crapping your pants and the associated personel accountability is far worse.

I almost lost my father in law a little over a year ago to pancreatitis. He was in the ICU for 3 months, and his doctors tell him it's a miracle he lived. It makes me appreciate him even more now and I don't take for granted the little things so much anymore.

the gf, ex gf thing was from oct 09 till feb 10. the fricking around with school was probably 4 semesters long, on top of the way earlier stuff of not going but actually dropping classes
at one point id spend all night up on here or watching bones or something on netflix and then sleep till like 2.

When I was around 15 my mom developed schizophrenia. She would make me leave the house some nights and drive places because she thought people were trying to kill us. The worst was when I had the stomach flu and she made me leave. I passed out in the back of the car puking while one of my moms friends tried to calm her down.

Watching my grandfather die this past December was pretty agonizing. At the same time though I am glad I was there for it.

I saw a grown man go incontinent in front of an assembly of folks. You dont know terror.

Can you actually survive that?

Thanks. Looking back on it, I was a pretty big a-hole to her about those things. Thankfully she is better..but it took years of medication adjustments to where she could function without being out of it.
ETA: sorry about everyone's woes. Hopefully things are better for all.

I watched my brother die in a 4 wheeler crash. That was pretty horrible. Honestly, even though it's been 28 years ago, it still bothers me. I see his bloody face most nights when I close my eyes to sleep. But, I've learned a lot about myself, and life and the value we put on our time here from that one moment.
I've got a kid with so many heart problems it'll make your head spin. He's already had 3 open heart operations. That's pretty horrible too. There is a real feeling of helplessness, since I'm not going to master pediatric cardiology anytime soon.
But, I've learned a lot about letting go of control and trusting in others. I've learned that a 5 year old kid can teach me more about life, and how to live it, than anyone would imagine.
But, all in all, I've got the greatest life ever lived....so far.

The day I found out my wife had a brain tumor. Thank god it was benign, but at that time ::shudder::

Tracks got up to my hips. Broke both pelvic bones, ankle, and caused significant internal bleeding.

I had heart surgery my sophomore year of college. The night before was probably the worst of my life.
Still have all my grandparents, both parents, wife and siblings so I can't say I've suffered much in terms of personal loss.
*Edit* Forgot, my dad was rushed to the hospital a few years back for what they thought was an aortic aneurysm. Turned out to be nothing serious but he had all the symptoms and it freaked us all out.

I would say either of those are worse than anything I have experienced. You have a great outlook though.
