It's because every time he speaks or tweets I always know that I can trust that what he says is the truth.

The man couldn't tell the truth if you paid him to do so. He's a pathological liar.

He's told more lies than truths since he took office.

Maybe he thinks what he's saying is the truth.

He probably does, and it's because he's surrounded himself with useless people, which is the opposite of what he said he'd do. But the fact remains that he has said a lot more falsehoods than truths since taking office.

He lies as much as the media lies about him

I agree, I was being sarcastic, tongue in cheek. And here's a nice tweet of his from last night:

“The FAKE NEWS media (failing @nytimes, @NBCNews, @ABC, @CBS, @CNN) is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!” he declared from South Florida...

John McCain was on FOX this morning and stated that the first thing dictators do is suppress the media, attack them. Of course I don't think Trump is a dictator or evil person, just that he is in way over his head. Maybe he's a pathological liar and can't help it, I don't know.

Remember, it's not a lie, if you believe it.

I work in politics and the media is a complete joke. They are not on a search for truth. They are on a search for supporting their agenda. Conservative, liberal, whatever, they have a way they want each story to go and they will report that way regardless of the facts.

Journalism is in a very bad place right now. Anyone that believes otherwise is either a fool, naive, or part of the media and therefore complicit.

Trump's deal is he refuses to play along with it. Instead, he exposes it while doing the same thing himself to support his own agenda. And it's driving all media nuts.

Fascinating stuff. Regardless, the media - as a legitimate source of objective fact finding - is dead.

Trump isn't trying to expose "bad journalism." He's fine with Fox News, Brietbart, etc., which are equally as partisan as the liberal outlets, but obviously fall on the opposite end of the political spectrum. He's trying to squash dissenting opinion.

I'm not a fan of narrowcasting in news media either, but it remains that the media needs to be given the freedoms that it's supposed to have in order to sustain a functioning democracy. I don't think Trump intends to take over as dictator or anything, but he is pushing our system more towards an authoritarian system and it's concerning.

They have those freedoms. Instead they chose to not do journalism and instead decided to do blatant cheating. Not only creating fake news during the election process, but out right cheating by giving Hillary the questions to a debate and doing everything in their power to help her and hurt him. They ceased being journalists and become a political arm.

Actually he is just utilizing the stretched powers already created by Obama. Many of which are just undoing his wrongs. Bush/Obama grew the power of the state.

The answer isn't to demonize only the side of the media that's against him, though. You don't think Fox News is corrupt?

A functioning press is a necessity of a transparent democracy, and while it's not Trump's fault that the press moved towards narrowcasting and has become possibly corrupt, Trump's attitude towards media and opposition in general is still extremely concerning.

I'm not talking about executive orders or anything. The imperial presidency has been a thing since JFK. What makes Trump more authoritarian than other presidents is his fear of opposition -- he won and most of his action is still put towards trying to delegitimize his opposition.

Spot on. The media picked a side, which they should never do.

The polls show the people believe Trump more than the MSM and the media can't understand why. Frick all of them.

I completely agree with his attitude toward the press. The press has become a political arm, NOT journalism. The sooner every person realizes this and demands more from Cnn and Fox then maybe we can see better change from these liars. They need to be held accountable from their lack of journalism and outright deception.

Well that just isnt true.

The issue is that the majority of the media have abused said freedoms. When it's painfully obvious that they're nothing more than shills for one political side, a little pushback is in order.

Objectivity in journalism is dead. Even as a conservative/libertarian myself, I don't watch Fox news. And, of course, the other mainstay networks are unmitigated liberal dreck. The status quo is ridiculous.

This is so true. It's a bit worse with the ABC's CBS's, NBC's MSNBC's and CNN's of the world. They don't even try to be objective in anything they report on.

And they make their agenda part of the story, which used to not happen when you actual had journalistic integrity.

I was never a Trump supporter (Rubio), until he won, which I never expected and I said to myself "Very interesting... Let's see how this works out".. and so far, I'm extremely pleased.

Not that anyone gives a shite. I just felt like posting this because of the OP subject line.
