It has been dead for a long time. The dynamic is changined in the last 20 years to make it more obvious, that's all.

As Mark Twain said hundreds of years ago.... "Those who don't read newspapers are uninformed. Those who do are misinformed"

What media freedoms have been suppressed?

Let me help - none. Getting called out by the POTUS (as happened to Fox when Obama was president) is not suppressing a right.

This. Anyone who thinks the media is suppressed is just being a illogical liberal. That doesn't happen here.

And Trump should just ignore the media. He knows they are biased against him, so just ignore them. Who cares what they print.

Trump more authoritarian than other presidents is his fear of opposition -- he won and most of his action is still put towards trying to delegitimize his opposition.

Print media is doing fine. Unfortunately, people are too lazy to read nowadays, so they turn to TV news, which has been awful for 10-20 years now.

And this is part of the problem. People fall for BS like this because it supports their bias. Hillary wasn't given the questions to a debate. She was given topics that would probably come up. And the debate in question was one she had with Bernie Sanders, not Trump. She was given the topics by Donna Brazile, who had left CNN by the time Trump won the nomination. It was a joke they had hired her in the first place given her closeness to Hillary, but then they also hire Lewandowski.

I work in politics and the media is a complete joke. They are not on a search for truth. They are on a search for supporting their agenda. Conservative, liberal, whatever, they have a way they want each story to go and they will report that way regardless of the facts.

Journalism is in a very bad place right now. Anyone that believes otherwise is either a fool, naive, or part of the media and therefore complicit.

Trump's deal is he refuses to play along with it. Instead, he exposes it while doing the same thing himself to support his own agenda. And it's driving all media nuts.

Fascinating stuff. Regardless, the media - as a legitimate source of objective fact finding - is dead.

You would basically have to be an extremely stupid liberal to watch the Hillary/Trump Debate on CNN and not think that those moderators acted as attack dogs for the democratic party. It was a joke, it just turned out that the American people saw right through it and Trump was able to play it to his advantage. Now Americans know that CNN = fake news.

It was the most obviously biased debate in American history. It was disgusting.

If this were the case, the editor of the WSJ wouldn't have felt the need to tell his staff if they had a problem being objective they needed to GTFO right now.

They're exactly the same as broadcast media. They just aren't getting the attention because, as you said, nobody reads anymore.

Just look at al.com. Their entire staff's purpose in life seems to be to spread the love to the left (Whitmore, Archibald, etc) and truth be damned.

I never liked Trump personally and never watched his stupid arse tv show. When he declared he was running for Prez and pointed out our immigration problem in the blunt terms he used, I was on board. The more i have researched him the more I like him. Not personally, but as the prez. The main problem with the federal government is that it is too bloated to work anymore. In my opinion he is the only guy who can clean it out and not give a shite about the crying pussies in the media who are completely in the tank for the Democrats.

I agree with all of this, but I need to start seeing some of the bloat get removed. At this point it's been underwhelming. Mattis and Tillerson were good picks, but beyond that, I haven't really seen much.

One of his first orders was hiring freeze. That alone is huge. No other republican would have the balls to do even that.

Son of a bitch hasn't been in the office but for a month and the fricktard Dems won't let him get his cabinet set up. He already has been challenged in court before he could get his AG in office. Getting the Dems to do anything is like getting a cat to take a bath.

Sounds like Obama's first few months in office. And then the next 8 years. News flash- the dems and the reps aren't the core issue. The problem is the 2 party system naturally creating a divide. You want more reciprocity within Washington? Demand more options. This would all but eliminate the issue of big money in politics as well, because then should be bought? Hard to establish that, as you never know who wins. Eliminate the electoral college and let 1,000 frickin' people run for president. But your mindset really does nothing but fuel the fire.

I guess. I'm looking for more systemic reformation. Granted that's lofty expectations, but he told me to expect that.

He told me he could make deals. Obama's deal making was, "I'll cut spending, but the only way I'll do it is massive tax increases. You won't do that? Okay, fine. I tried negotiating." Trump promised me more. He promised me he'd find a way to get things done.

Remember that time media heads had secret undisclosed meetings with Obama a few years ago?

Yeah...

Then he should stop making shitty nominations.
