I was surprised Oxford didn't shrink due to all the food poisoning deaths eating cold chicken and other cold foods in the tree space where they tailgate.

If growth trends held over the next 40 years (they won't, probably, but always an interesting exercise).....

National Top 10 (40 yr growth%)
1. New York (21,594,420) (10.2%)
2. Los Angeles (15,266,658) (18.9%)
3. Dallas (14,746,921) (117.9%)
4. Houston (13,408,102) (125.4%)
5. Chicago (9,610,881) (1.5%)
6. Atlanta (9,431,434) (77.9%)
7. Miami (9,416,535) (68.6%)

9. Phoenix (8,655,951) (105.9%)
11. San Fransisco (6,646,557) (53.0%)
12. Philadelphia (6,624,973) (11.0%)
13. Boston (6,334,792) (38.7%)

US population is up just under 6% in that time, so anything under 6 represents negative proportional growth.

SEC Major City Growth Rates 2010 to 2018 by %

11. Lexington, KY (+9.14%)

It's interesting to me that you included Lexington as an SEC "major city" since it is smaller than 4 other metros where SEC schools are located, including Fayetteville, Knoxville, Baton Rouge, and Columbia SC.

City-proper estimates won't be out until May.

I honestly just thought of the 1-2 largest cities in each state depending on overall state size.

Thank God I don't live in Dallas anymore.

Traffic nightmare, inescapable sprawl.

Even if students were measured as part of a city's permanent population (they're not) your argument would only be true if the enrollment at the school is declining (I didn't look this up but I would venture to say it is not)

But Starkville hasn't actually lost population, it's gained population. It's flat growth, but it's still growth.

Oh ok. Louisville is over twice as big as metro Lexington.
