So you're saying students from literally every other SEC school is doing it wrong?

Or is it because Starkville is a shithole and everyone wants to leave?

I'm saying that the population revolves around the University unlike any other school in the SEC.

well it's larger than -.15 and good enough for the top half of the SEC.

but you go on ahead with that argument.

Oxford's non-student population is very similar to Starkville. I guess what you're saying is that Oxford >>> Starkville.

Starkville is still bigger than Oxford and more people live within 20 miles of Starkville than they they do Oxford. You're info is incorrect.

Oxford has a population of 23,639. 1% of that is 236 people. Congrats on the booming growth

If you still live in Oxford, then you either never left college, are a professor, or a member of the campus police. My guess is that you are the latter.

What, exactly, is this near useless statistic supposed to prove?

It proves how fast SEC metros are growing. That, itself, doesn't prove a lot other than where people are moving to.

It's way more interesting than about 90% of other off-season thread topics.

Yep. It was the best kept secret for decades. Lived in Fayetteville until 2015. The roads weren't ready for the growth even back then. I can only imagine how bad traffic is now. Other than that it's an absolutely gorgeous city. frick the bikers, though.

Even if students were measured as part of a city's permanent population (they're not) your argument would only be true if the enrollment at the school is declining (I didn't look this up but I would venture to say it is not)

Both "metro areas" are just the county in which the town is located, and both counties are around 50k people. I don't see a lot of difference. One or two years of trending in the other direction and they're pretty much dead even again.

PankReb, I had no idea how butthurt you were about the whipping MSU put on you last night in the Governors Cup until just now.

You are looking for anything to throw ar MSU now LMAO!! Either that or the fact we just won the Sec Tennis Tourney championship. (Something so many Ole Miss fans are in to) Either way you are butthurt.

Every week I see another traffic clusterfrick and go "how the hell did we get here?"

Today, it was coming back from my favorite street taco place in Springdale and the line to turn left onto Zion Rd was backed all the way down the hill. I have no idea why, but I'd never seen or noticed that before. Also, Wedington Road is a complete disaster, so of course they are building houses hand-over-fist out there still.

I don't understand people living in one city and commuting to work in another one around here anymore.

Maybe work in Springdale and live in Fayetteville, but there's no way in hell I'd make that commute to Benton County from Fayetteville every day. Once you get off the highway on either end, you're sitting in traffic during rush hour.

I guess ours is still tame compared to DFW or Chicago or wherever (where a lot of transplants are arriving from). But I remember referring to our "rush hour" as a "rush 10 minutes" about a decade ago.

Starkvegas has seen steady growth over the last 35 years. Nothing spectacular but steady nonetheless.
These stats are estimates so I don’t put much stock on them.
All of the SEC towns/cities have seen growth in the recent years for a variety of reasons.
Both Oxford and Starkvegas have been able to maintain their small town charm though those days are going to probably end in the future.
