So fricking stupid. Smoked meats = BBQ.

And Gus' World Famous Fried Chicken for the win.

It's okay. Not nearly as good as Zesto's in Columbia. I even like Bush's in Central Texas better than Gus's.

Take a long walk off a short pier.

Brisket is the best BBQ one can be offered. I’ll fight anyone who disagrees

BBQ is a method of cooking different meats

I am trying to understand this thread.

Is everyone arguing about franchise chicken places?

Really?

Disclaimer: Laynes in College Station is not a franchise but a stand alone.

You want to talk about stand alone places? Chicken Shack in Baton Rouge: It's Knuckle Suckin' Good

One thing that comes with having the highest murder and crime rate in the SEC, means you also have the best chicken places.....

I’ll combine both and say the smoked whole chicken with the Alabama white sauce at Mrs Myra’s (or Big Bob Gibson’s) is the GOAT

SC food all tastes the same....the poor bastards have never been anywhere else.

Shrimp & Grits....about to their only claim to fame.

Gonna seriously argue with Louisiana folk about what is good food? Lol...GTFO.

Popeye's >>>>> Zaxby's and Bojangles combined

To be fair... every Popeye's in SC sucks....don't even sell onion rings....except the one at the TA in Florence, and their onion rings suck for some reason.

I am no fan of Canes...but their product is far superior to Zaxby's. But Canes is a ripoff, IMO.

Close. Short ribs. Then brisket. Then it's all good, but there's not much distance between the different meats. Smoked turkey, smokey chicken, smoked sausage, smoked pork butt, smoked pork ribs...it's all wonderful.

I'd like to try some Alabama places someday.

Don't you live in SC?

You must be forced to live in SC because I've never seen you say anything positive about the state.

Best Fried Chicken- My mama's

Second best fried chicken- those way out little southern stores that look like holes in the wall (or have holes in the wall) where they skillet fry chicken in small batches....

everybody else is going for third (and it depends on the individual store to what is the best) near me the Popeye's is the best, but about 25 miles from me I would not give my dog that Popeye's chicken

Bar B Que- my daddy's..... and he cooks both brisket and pork...and none of you is invited.....

I've never bothered to try and do burnt ends from my brisket. I'll have to give it a try someday.

I'm an SEC West guy, but a proud Nashvillian. This humble shack trumps everything else in this thread:
