You need to learn how to properly understand the written word. Shameful. Just STFU and report me again, idiot. But leave this thread alone and not let your childish interpretation of my words get the attention. It isn't about you.

We all can only hope.

This is a serious and somber thread about dozens of lives that have been lost.
and you're shitting it up with a e-fight with another poster.
Take your ball and complain in another thread.

TIA

I read it again after I saw your post. He was responding to someone who mentioned a flattened trailer, and his post was from the perspective of the driver. I truly don't think he was disparaging those people. His other posts in this thread prior to this confrontation aren't trolling in nature and show his intent, IMO.

I think this is a thread where people should be given the benefit of the doubt. I don't think there is anyone here shitty enough to make a comment like that in the context you read it in.

Can you guys stop with this argument? I know you have opinions about the storm chaser, but this thread isn't really an appropriate place for that discussion.

As in, the elitist, pampered shite eater would have been running up full speed to the wreckage if it had been million dollar homes.

How fricking thick and stupid can you be?

So terrible. A tornado in GA passed right by my parents’ house today. It could’ve easily been them. Prayers for the families.

Very sad indeed. I really wish this death toll would quit rising.
When the 2000 tornado came through Tuscaloosa, 10 of the 13 lives were lost when it ripped up a large mobile home neighborhood. There had been some notice on time, but sadly these folks really just don't have many places to go seek refuge.
Sure a handful of towns have tornado shelters, but most are several miles away and most people won't bother to drive to them and just will hope the tornado won't hit them.
But when it's bearing down on you, you are really stuck.
Since there are so many trailers in this state, and so many tornadoes, I think any owner of a trailer park should be required to install a shelter for the residents.

I don't remember that post. I did watch the video though, saw the trailers, and then saw the destruction and noticed the complete lack of empathy in the storm chasers tone and attitude and behavior.

At that moment, I thought to myself they must not have been "his" kind of people.

Just saw your update/edit. 20 plus is horrible.

Do we have any posters or family members impacted?

Not a bad idea, IMO.

Of course they would need to gauge the size of the storm shelter by park size, but a simple 10x10 underground shelter could hold plenty and save lives.

I want to take a moment to commend the National Weather Service in Birmingham (which covers Lee County). They issued the first tornado warning more than 20 minutes in advance of the first tornado in Lee County, and upgraded the warning to a tornado emergency about 10 minutes in advance of it hitting Smith's Station and Beauregard.

They have made tremendous strides over the last 20+ years in giving a lot of warning lead time, even on busy days with lots of tornadic storms.

Tornadoes just happen so fast. You would need the tornado horn like they have across the midwest. They just pop up and that is what is so dangerous about them. Very little if any warning.

ETA Midland makes a bad weather warning device. I bought one for $29.99. You can set them up for your county or multiple counties. You can set it up to alert for multiple watches and warnings. I highly recommend getting one.

I agree with this. It doesn't have to be expensive or nice, just something sturdy to use in an emergency.

Not correct in most cases. See my above post, more than 20 minutes between the warning being issued for Lee County and the tornado actually hitting the area.

The problem is that, sadly, many people do not equip themselves with adequate ways of receiving warnings. Tornado sirens CANNOT be relied on. Every one should put a weather radio in their home, just like they would a smoke detector.
