What the NCAA focuses on is sometimes mind boggling...
quote:

Knoxville News Sentinel — Tennessee star linebacker Arion Carter has been suspended for two games by the NCAA because he returned to college after his agent had paid for a $427 flight to an NFL pre-draft training facility.

Knox News through a public records request obtained an internal athletics department document detailing the violation and UT's protest against stiff penalties. A UT spokesperson told Knox News that the suspension was the result of that violation.

Carter must sit out Tennessee’s first two games of the 2026 season against Furman (Sept. 5) and Georgia Tech (Sept. 12). He led the SEC with 7.6 tackles per game last season, earning all-conference honors.

Play him anyway. The NCAA is toothless.

In today’s world of NIL…dumb (even if it is 10RC).

Oh, so guys can sign multimillion dollar "NIL" deals, skip class, transfer mid-season (not really but you get the point) but a $400 airplane ride gets you a 2 game suspension? Wow.

In the NIL era, the NCAA is worthless, hot garbage.

This is utterly ridiculous. The NCAA needs to be disbanded at this point.

he had an agent pay for something, while trying to go the nfl. should have payed for it himself but he didn't think he was coming back to college.

is it a small amount yes. but if they don't penalize him whats the difference in jumping to nfl and back to college.
previous players would've been suspended for a year.
There is a reason this has to be enforced, glad it's only 2 games and not more

Time to get a Tennessee judge to make a ruling

This is stupid. He paid the $ back. NCAA has situations like this that just leave you scratching your head. Why is this what you're concentrating on? Such a bad look.

If he would have paid up front would he be suspended?
