My thoughts on Athens.

I went to Athens on Saturday for the Florida-Georgia game. Here’s my observations:
1) The Steg is shitty. How can Georgia not afford to replace it?
2) Downtown is super overrated (but I can see partiers liking it)
3) The campus buildings are ugly.
4) Georgia fans really don’t know basketball.
5) Creature Comfort was good, but super crowded and slow.
6) The weather was crappy, so may have had some effect on the atmosphere.
7) Athens is in the middle of nowhere.
Also went to Sanford stadium, thought it was cool how you could just walk in from the street. I noticed them replacing bleachers? Are they just putting new ones in?
It was still a good time. I will have to come up for a football game sometime.

It’s just a college town in the middle of no where. It’s a step above Starkville, I’ll give you that.

I don’t brag that Gainesville is the Mecca of college towns like Georgia fans have tried to tell us that Athens is.
Gainesville is a college town in the middle of no where-sort of. At least the interstate goes through it. Our downtown isn’t as good as yours, but it’s not a huge gap. Our campus is substantially nicer though. We actually try to make our buildings look nice with brick and vine clad halls. Georgia was just concrete buildings.

In the middle of nowhere? Are you sure you didn't go to Athens Tn?
