Okay, I take back what I said about Arkansas. I was definitely just in the wrong section of the state bc those pics are beautiful.

If you freeway through Arkansas, except for I-49, you stay outside of the pretty areas. I-40 touches a little bit of the Ozarks, but it follows the Arkansas River Valley, which means you are in the flattest, least-remarkable landscape.
I-30 runs just SE of hill country through flat timberlands the entire stretch.
Draw a line between the two divots in the SW and NE corners of Arkansas, and everything North and West of that line is pretty country, for the most part.

As someone that has lived in Florida for more than a decade. anyone that puts this state in the top 10 shouldn't be taken seriously. Florida is fricking gross and offers very little in terms of natural beauty. It's flat, sandy, humid and the beaches aren't even that great. And we have a shite ton of disgusting lakes and rivers that thousands of high schoolers get sick from swimming in every Memorial Day.

I don't know. Most of them suck.

Quit being mad. Arkansas has all the best parts of the Ozarks, and an entirely separate mountain range south of the Arkansas River with higher peaks and prominence than anything in the Ozarks.
The only part of Missouri with decent natural beauty is the part that is immediately adjacent to Arkansas. Hell, Mt. Sequoyah in downtown Fayetteville is higher in elevation and has more prominence than any point in the entire state of Missouri.

When it comes to a mountain's "height", the most important factor is prominence. IE, how high the mountain stands apart from the rest of the landscape surrounding it. There are parts of Colorado over 5,000 ft in elevation that are flatter than your mom's arse.
Mt. Magazine in west central Arkansas has a prominence of over 2100 ft, and that's a lot of height, top to bottom, for something not in the Rockies or the very tallest parts of the Smokies.

Hawksbill Crag, Arkansas
Seeing this spot in north, central Arkansas at the end of Whitaker Point trail should be on everyone’s bucket list.

I've been to 40 of the 50 states (FWIW, my 6 y/o has be to 33 of them by car). Each one has areas that are very scenic and areas that are trashy. I encourage everyone to get out and roadtrip the country. Our family does every year and it's awesome. You can't get a feel for what we call "the United States" by flying over the country in an airplane or looking at pictures on the internet.
This list comes down to what people like and like to do.

Tennessee and Georgia are beautiful. The only parts in Alabama worth mentioning are the coastal regions and the areas bordering TN.
Louisiana has a few amazing locations but.. meh.
The rest are kinda meh too

Alabama has beautiful rolling mountains in the northeast and gorgeous beaches on the Gulf.

Guess it depends on your definition, but if you are ranking based on diversity of pretty things then Alabama in the top 3-4 makes perfect sense. I'd rank South Carolina and Georgia ahead of it because I like the old colonial Atlantic coast with it's towns and marshes, but Alabama has some very pretty areas.
