I saw this last night with my guys and it was fantastic. Probably my favorite cartoon I've seen since I've had kids. Also at 97% on Rotten tomatoes.

Nod to parents, kids, and players of Legos.

My little brothers have been psyched to talk about this movie every time I get to talk to 'em on the phone

Better than Wreck It Ralph, in your opinion?

I loved it. Here's my review from the M/TV board:

Just got back from it. Simply put, as you all have heard, "Everything is Awesome!" It's clear that Lord and Miller didn't half arse this "product placement on steroids" concept, and completely justify why this movie should have been made in the first place, and also why this is the greatest toy to have ever graced humanity.

The sheer creativity and gags come at you a million miles an hour. It does feel like a Lego adventure you'd send out some of your Lego figures on, and it never feels completely dumb. Will Arnett's Batman is the closest we'll probably ever come to having "The God Damn Batman" put on screen, and he's hilarious. Will Ferrell is also great, as is really everyone else.

The final 15 minutes though are pretty incredible and surprisingly touching. I won't spoil it, but it will make you teary eyed and emotional, especially if you played with Legos a ton when you were a kid.

This is easily the greatest film ever based around a single toy and puts every single other film based around bringing a toy franchise to life to shame. Save Toy Story of course, and its a really nice spiritual successor to it. I think this board will be shocked on how much they enjoy this, and its so good I have no idea where they can take the sequel, since they seem to have it pretty well covered on what Legos are all about.

4 stars out 4

It justifies itself more and is much more touching. I love both movies and they're close, but the end of the Lego movie is incredible, while Wreck-It-Ralph is "by the books".

Wreck-It-Ralph sets it up for sequels, but the Lego Movie seems to say everything that needs to be said about Legos. WIR its pretty easy to see where they take a sequel, namely online gaming, fighting games, and MMORPG. Lego summarizes the universe as a whole perfectly and why there is an appeal for them. I think you'll be surprisingly touched by it, something I was not expecting at all going into it.

Tough call. Wreck it Ralph was my favorite cartoon up to this.

Wreck it Ralph had the vintage appeal going on and made me laugh more at over the top stuff.

Lego movie pretty much had me chuckling about every 30 seconds. Just super witty. Charlie Day, Will Arnett, Liam Neeson and a few others just killed it.

Also there's kinda a paradigm shift at the end that stings a little bit.

Imma have to see it, then! Wifey and I always laugh at the previews/commercials.

I'm a sucker for kids films, but damn there have been some good ones of late. Actually downloaded a couple tracks from the Frozen soundtrack, I enjoyed it so much.

It kills me that's kids walk around singing "do you want to build a snowman?" And "let it go"

Today I had them singing "everything is awesome" from Lego Movie.

Probably my favorite scene from that movie. His facial expressions are just gut wrenching.

It's my son's birthday tomorrow and we're taking him to see it. He's pumped and I'm glad to hear that's it lives up to the hype. He's all about some Lego's. Both the real and video game versions.

Saw this today. Definitely an awesome movie. I'd have a hard time choosing between in and Wreck-it-Ralph though. As far as wrcek-it-ralph 2, I'd like to see Ralph end up in Minecraft.
It's be great to see Steve in a major motion picture.

Lego Movie

Must see for pretty much everyone that ever played with Legos. Or anyone who didn't play with Legos and lived the Trap Life making pistols and bad decisions outta MEGA BLOKS. Or even if you were that kid with the uncool parents building the same fort over and over again out of Lincoln Logs.

Basically just go see the dang movie.

SPOILERS SUGGESTION!!

I'm assuming that the entire universe and story is going to be some kid playing and building stuff at the end of it, right? Just answer yes or no.
