My dad and I will text occasionally about golf or other sports. When my mom calls, it's usually about school.

I didn't say I give him money. :)

Same here. I usually get bitched out about something. Or other bad news I don't want to hear about.

as a parent who has put 3 kids through college... its nice to know you are:
1. Alive
2. Still in school
3. healthy
4. not in jail.
etc.
Not all mom/dad calls are to bust balls. Although its nice to get a call or a text that doesnt just ask for money. Gets a little depressing when the kid thinks you are 1st national bank of Dad but doesnt at least act like a social citizen / member of the family.

I text both of my parents everyday, mom bout gardening and lawn care, dad about sports and politics. God help my arse if I don't call my grandparents once every couple of weeks. I'll still get my grown arse whooped if I get a card in the mail and no phone call to thank them for it.

Mom only calls for two things - to complain about my sister or to tell me she ran into someone she thought I knew from years ago that I usually don't remember. We text pretty often though. We both hate talking on the phone.
Dad passed a few years ago. We never talked on the phone. He hated it more than mom and I did. He hated texting too.

Call my parents and talk to them on a daily basis. I think it's weird if you don't tbh

7 months ago I felt the same, one car accident and a fast acting cancer later I would kill to speak to either of them.
FYI I am about you age, enjoy it while you can

I love talking to my parents. I dread calls from my employees

I'm 28 years old and I still love talking to my parents. If I go even four days without speaking to one of them I feel like something is wrong and I'll pick up the phone right away. I have a great fear of losing one of them and feeling like the last thing I said to them is something that I wish I could take back. That's why I always make it a point to end every conversation with an I love you.

If that happens, you'll never hear from them again. I guarantee that.

IF I win the lottery, only 4 people I know would get a phone call.
The rest would have to get on a plane to come visit me

And I dread answering the phone from my children. It is always to fix some problem for them. It is never to tell me everything is going great.
Amazing that money is usually the key to fixing their problem.
