Anyone ever brave or dumb enough to work with their SO? Someone give me a nice way to say to her that I don't want this to happen.

Inb4 McDonald's always needs a good fry cook.

****Update-She is submitting her application. It will be in a different department than me but she wants to give it a shot. Thanks for the advice OTR.

McDonalds needs a good Manager for the fry cooks

In all seriousness, I don't think I would like it.

Have you told her how you would feel working with her and seeing her even more everyday?

I once made the mistake of taking a job at my ex-future MIL's place of business and that was hell enough I can't imagine working with my SO

If she's reasonable she should understand why you don't want to work with her, but she's a woman so 95% no matter what you say she's going to get upset and cry. Have fun

Tell your wife you will support anything she wants to do.

Then tell your employer how awful she is.

Do nothing and absolutely do not tell your employer that she's your wife...hopefully you have a common last name. If she gets hired then sexually harass her, she files a complaint, you fully admit to it, she sues the employer and settles before court, you both make bank and move to a different state. Rinse and repeat.

Start complaining around the office about how lazy your wife is.

I told my wife that I wouldn't care if she worked where I work. She wouldn't be in the same department and this place is pretty big

Tell HR she has sued her last 4 employers for sexual harassment.

This is the right answer. Unless you can assure that you and your wife won't be in the same location from 8-5 M-F, then it's OK.

I can't think of much worse than coming home and listening to my wife bitch about her work, which is the same work from which I just left.

There needs to be some separation.

Damnit man, don't let everybody in on the racket

It pays off like double indemnity if you add race or religion to the mix.

While I have not been married (come close 3 different times... which probably is not a positive for me) I have worked with someone that I was involved with.

It worked out just fine. Your hours tend to be similar and when they complain about a jackass at work you at least can nod your head knowingly. Now if she is a Kathy Griffin level drama queen... no. Hell no.

Otherwise it will probably be just fine.

My fiancee works with me, we both work for Samsung as technical support agents. I mean, shes a supervisor over the cellphone department and I'm a computer technician. We work the same schedule but have different days off. It's not bad, but in that position, some people look at it like you're only there because you're sleeping with one of the higher ups.

What is wrong with you?

You poop in the kitchen or eat on the crapper?

Neither is very hygienic.

It's a common phrase that means "don't date someone where you work"

I worked with my wife for a year and a half.

Small office, we were short handed and she doesnt normally work, so she decided to try it out. Left only because she had other stuff to do.

Overall I didnt mind it. We didn't really talk to each other during the day, as she did her job and I did mine. Only thing lost was the conversations at night that typically go, "how was your day"...

Maybe I am just used to it coming from family businesses.

It’s an oft misused phrase that actually refers to doing something stupid (cheating customers, etc.) in your family, in your hometown or in your neck of the woods for which you, if caught, would subject you and your family to shame. As far as screwing around, it could include banging a local waitress or co-worker if you are dating someone else, engaged or married.

The proper terminology for advice against simply screwing a co-worker is:

Don’t slam your dick in the cash drawer.

Don’t dip your quill in the company ink.

No joke, I have seen a record of something much like this happening.
