Listen to T Birds eats recommendations and the others about avoiding the RW. Don't waste your day at sea world, either. Unless you like waiting in two hour lines on black tar pavement just to see a few fishes jump around.

I love the hill country, but SA is just ok. Definitely go to the local dive places. You will get to experience the real SA and Texas culture.

Tacos. Lots of tacos. Breakfast tacos, puffy tacos, fajita tacos. Eat them all. As stated earlier, the more dive looking, the better.

I plan on gorging on a massive amount of tacos.

I feel like I have to visit the RW at least once while there. For sure avoiding Sea World and Fiesta Texas. We are looking to just kind of hang out and relax.

Definitely gonna do a boat tour. Plan on eating at a bunch of good Mexican joints and probably Bliss.

Is Bliss worth the money? Supposed to be incredible.

You'll have a good time. Ignore these haters

Good call if that's your goal. Those are more family-type parks anyways.

As for Bliss, haven't been yet, but I've heard nothing but good things from those who have.

You'll have to report back

Is it worth spending the extra money and getting a room right on the river walk?

Definitely do the Riverwalk if you've never been. Find a laid back place with a patio and shade on the River Walk and drink for a bit. Every kid who grows up in Texas goes to SA and the Riverwalk a million times as a kid so we get jaded

Rosario's is my favorite Tex Mex spot in SA but I haven't spent a ton of time in the city. Depending on how long you're there and how much time you have you can head out to New Braunfels and the hill country as well. Lots of cool spots out there and some famous BBQ in Luling and Lockhart. Wimberley is a really cool small town near there too.

Recommend San Antonio Gun Club. It's the oldest Gun Club in the country and great people that run/support it!

There is a Hampton inn that's great right off the river walk... Like 4 blocks from the Alamo and Ripley's for about $120 a night on the weekend. It's a 5 minute walk to save you $100.

But totally worth it.

Also definitely make a 30 minute trip to New Braunfels and Gruene if it's with family.

Sweet. The one on Bowie by the Alamo? The other Hampton is a bit more ghetto.

Excellent. hope you have a good time. Traffic in SA is pretty good outside of 281 and 35 during rush hour. You're about 20-30 minutes from everything there in downtown.

ETA: I didn't answer anything about eating

If you have time try a few on the river walk. The boat ride is fun to learn a little about the city. Do at least one Mexican and don't mess with the chains like dicks or rainforest. They're the same as anywhere else. Do go to mad dog's pub. Lots of good beer and some pretty good fish and chips.

Mexican food ON the river walk is good but not great.
Rosario's and La Margarita (off the river walk but downtown) are the shite.

Make it to Magnolia House or LuLu's (just for the experience) for some breakfast.

I don't live there but am probably there 10+ times a year. And listen to Tbird in this thread. He knows his town

Also avoid the 1604/I-10 interchange during rush hour.

Overall, though, traffic is pretty tame for such a big town. I have no complaints.
