I don’t like it. They are student athletes, not NFL employees. Can we really just start kicking kids out forcing them into the portal? Wtf

quote:

One of the players to enter the portal was offensive lineman Travis Gray, the son of Lamarr Gray, a linebacker on Colorado’s 1990 national championship team.

Gray received a text message from offensive line coach Bill O’Boyle the day after Colorado’s Spring Game, asking him to come to the team facility to meet with Sanders.

“ He’s walking with me and said, ‘Hey buddy, you’re going to get cut today. I’m sorry to tell you this. I didn’t want you to hear it from Coach Prime. I wanted you to hear it from my mouth. I didn’t want to cut you, but we had to cut five offensive linemen, and you were the last one,’" Gray told The Athletic on Tuesday evening.

Gary walked into Sanders’ office and received news that he would no longer be a part of Colorado’s football team.

“ I was like, ‘Oh, God.’ I saw the mean mug in his face," Gray said. "He told me, ‘You’re 6-foot-8, 320 pounds. I know in my heart of hearts a school is going to pick you up in the portal when you enter. Make your weaknesses your strengths and keep progressing. I hope you have a great future, it just won’t be here at the University of Colorado.’"

Following Saturday’s Spring Game, Sanders made it clear that changes were coming to the roster.

For Deion's sake he better turn that program around quick or he will be out the door within 3 years...

I don't like it, but I understand it. Between the portal & NLI it's kind of the next logical step for the coaches. He's only being asked to leave the team. He's not being kicked out of school.

They was shite water. Go check CU 2022 stats only 3 sacks from damn DLineman 6 from LBs. I believe every qb played for them and was horrible hell Lineman had same amount of catches as some TEs. Lol

If you stood to make over $100k a week to win football games, would you keep everyone on the previous coach's roster just because you don't want to hurt anyone's fee fees?

I agree Jay, but this is nothing new. Coaches have been pulling scholarships from college athletes for decades. Sanders just has no discretion.

Why not? These kids can just leave whenever they want. This is what they wanted.

If Deion doesn't have RAPID success, this will all be seen as destroying his brand.

That team was 1-11 last year, won 1 freaking game! Anything Prime does will be an improvement over that shite.

This is what the players wanted. They wanted unlimited transfers. The portal giveth, and the portal taketh away.

The players wanted all of the benefits of pro football without any of the responsibilities that come with it. I personally find it amusing when they learn the hard way that life doesn't work like that.

Replacing 60 3 stars with 60 transfers portal 3 stars seems kinda stupid. Well, at least he can’t blame the kids for loses, he can blame his own kids.

Players wanted to be treated like NFL employees and they got NIL.

Players wanted an unrestricted portal to "take their talents" whenever and wherever they could land and they got it.

Wtf

Players got exactly what they wanted.

He never even gave them a chance. He left an alumni fundraiser where he had just given a "I'm in it for the long haul" speech and flew straight to East Lansing to sign his new contract. Then he has one good year and MSU gives him a Jimbo styled deal. Dude's agent is a mother fricker and I wish he was negotiating for my wife and I when we sign any contracts.
