Aside from family and friends there is nothing like the companionship of a pet. Pets are like family. I've lost two cats(may they RIP) and it's like losing a best friend. That being said, who are you? A Cat or Dog person? Feel free to share your pet stories. Cat or Dog, they both deserve a loving home.

I like both, but prefer dogs. My wife hates cats though, so haven't had one since college.

I like animals in general but I'd have to go with cats (I love their independence because it makes you feel special when they choose to bond with you and not all will). Although, I did have a wolf once and absolutely adored it. Even though most people assume they're similar, they are very different from dogs personality wise.

Dog person but I like cats, just can't have them because I'm allergic. I might be able to do an outdoor cat that catches mice and stuff though.

I'm OK with both, have had both, but prefer dogs. I grew up with dogs and have had them my entire life. They are amazing companions. I honestly prefer them to humans most of the time.

We lost our last 2 dogs 7 weeks apart. One had gotten sick, had surgery, but it turns out had liver cancer. She lives 2 more months. I cried like a baby when we had to put her down. Her brother (we adopted them at the same time as pups), literally grieved himself to death 7 weeks later. He would hardly eat, and was at the vet multiple times during those 7 weeks, and they couldn't find anything wrong with him. At the advice of the vet, we got two pups as companions for him, but it didn't help. He died in my arms just 2 weeks after we got the pups.

That was almost 9 years ago. The two pups are now aging. One just had her 2nd ACL surgery in 2 years (one leg, then the other). They are laying at my feet, and cheer me up every day. I hope they live long enough for me to retire and get to spend all day with them. Would make me very happy.

Jesus H. Christ. For all the chest-beating I'M A SOUTHERN MAN nonsense that goes on around here, I was expecting pics of pretty German shorthairs and yellow Labs.

Instead, we get "I like cats. But my girlfriend won't let me have one."

Cats are an abomination to humankind.

Our dog is our queen. She has her own couch on the screened porch.

My family had cats when I was little, and I learned to appreciate them. As I got older, I became a dog person and have a dog now, but I still like cats.

We have Fluffy (cat in foreground) we rescued a few years ago but now we have a new stray who comes over to play with Fluffy and share her food. As you can see, Fluffy wants us to open the door and come play with both but right now the new cat plays chase all over the yard with Fluffy and we don't want to interrupt the fun they seem to be having.

We were hoping the new kitty's owners would see these posters we put up in the neighborhood and come pick him / her up.

I have always been a Dog person. Love the companionship and all the fun you can have with dogs.

But as my life has become more busy and complicated, I have grown to appreciate cats.

A good friendly cat, that comes to you when you call him is awesome. My cat will talk when you speak to him, walk on a leash outside, come running when you yell for him, and fetch a stuffed toy. (I am not exaggerating). Plus, I found him under a riding lawnmower in a rainstorm as a kitten. This dude is an awesome pet.

So, my final answer is “I love cats that behave like a dog”.

I can post a video of him fetching if someone can teach my computer illiterate self how to do it.

Dog. You can’t beat their unconditional love.

We adopted a part shepard mutt a couple of years ago. That dog loves the hell out of us. She’s not great with strangers, but that doesn’t bother me especially since I go out of town some and my wife is in the home alone. (Whoever heard of a guard cat?)

The wife has a chihuahua that came as part of the package deal. He was an a-hole and once shite next to me on the bed. He has now come around.

I’ve known a couple of good cats in my life, too. But that’s all. The rest of them are Satan’s house pets.

I have a 5 year old English Shorthair and a 12 year old Yellow Lab. Definitely a dog fan.

I don’t mind either, but dogs are easily superior.

Even if just for the fact that I can take a dog outside so they can do their business instead of cleaning a box full of shite

I'm a dog person. They make far superior pets than cats.

I do have a respect for the hunting prowess of cats, which make them great to have around a farm to keep pests under control.
