Wow, that’s really sad news. He was the culinary equivalent of a rock star. Hard to believe he’s gone, but not surprising it was on his own terms.

He's a log cabin Republican so no, he wouldn't be partying in the streets.

Could happen. He seems more like a robot than a human though.

He found his Nirvana when he ate at the Popeye's buffet. Nothing left to live for.

Good God you people have no soul. A man killed himself and you turn it into some stupid game and joke about it.

Welcome to the internet

We’re actually pretty tame here.

This place is usually tamed and easy going.

There are a lot of realists on this board though. It's not like the dramatic O-T lounge

Bourdain has been battling both mental health issues and drug abuse for quite some time. Some people can never overcome their demons. Poor guy.

As to what musician kicks the bucket next I'd vote for almost anyone other then Miley Cyrus. By this point I'm convinced that 99.99% of the stuff she pulls is so she can keep her name out there. Not the first to do that, not the last.

Granted, doing so by leaking pictures of you taking a leak in a parking lot is a new strategy, and one that hopefully won't start a disturbing trend of starlets peeing in public.

Black people don't commit suicide as often

I bet that has a lot to do with young people from the more troubled areas of the black community are more likely to die young from something like gun/gang violence before they get to the point of suicide.

In that culture they're probably more likely to want to report it as something as well. The black community is not supportive of mental health issues. A black kid who tells his mom he's depressed is probably more likely to get told to "quit that white people shite" than to actually be taken to get help.

Bourdain was probably bipolar.

I know some southern foodies who just say, "he is an a-hole".
Combined with your post about demons usually means bipolar.

I liked the guy's show until I heard what a jerk he is in real life. I figured part of that was his Yankee coming out combined with an inevitable hangover. But bipolar makes sense, too.

If this thread offends you you need thicker skin. We didn't celebrate his death or make fun of him, we just acknowledged that it happened. We didn't cry and wail about it either because we didn't know the dude. We took a realistic approach, sucks that that offends you.

I think it's more the "I sure hope Bieber and Miley Cyrus are next" comments that he's talking about. That shite isn't funny.

EDIT: Looking back at it some of it clearly was said in jest and some of those were jokes...and I still don't give a frick.

People on the internet are going to say shite about celebrities, especially popularly ridiculed ones. Nobody celebrated these deaths or hoped someone would die and BJ is like the last one that should be griping about people saying offensive shite on the net.

I don't think any on here wish death to anyone.

I think it's incredible sad and hate to know what it was that pushed him to do it.

However, in today's society, social media is now broadcasting this over the world. It's more sad that there has been two famous ppl do it this week and it will affect others in the future.

If today was so bad, tomorrow would have been better. Unfortunately, these two, and many others, will never get that opportunity to see it.

There are quite a few people that believe the circumstances surrounding his death are suspect. I enjoyed the guy -- In no way was I making a joke about what I said or his death. Quit being a pussy.

Alex Jones (I know) just put this video out on why certain people feel like he was murdered. Elon Musk and his relationship with Bourdain was a big talking point in the video. Musk and Bourdain apparently came to be very close friends before Bourdain died and they wanted to start coming forward with some knowledge that certain very prominent people/circles didn't want out. Hence where the conspiracy around the suicide is coming from. At minimum watch the first 10 minutes
