My small input. Your school of choice will not matter as long as your grades and extracurricular are top notch. In the hiring process, the school you attend carries little weight. We look at work experience first and if the person is just out of school, we look at what they did in school and not the name of the school.
Go where it makes the most financial sense, because carrying a lot of student loan debt or placing family members in debt is one of the worse mistakes your generation is currently making.

If you want to live in Miss go with OM.
I'm not sure of the current rules, but cant you establish residency in AL after a year and the cost will decrease substantially? (I didn't read the entire thread, so sorry if this was covered) That way, you are only talking one year at a higher price.

I'd say just go ahead and kill yourself now.

Especially if you're concerned about paying out of state when you could get a great deal on HOPE. Athens has something for everyone and UGA opens a lot of opportunities to network to an Atlanta job.
I have no desire to live in Athens.
If you have any questions about UGA let me know. If you just want to get out of state and get an SEC experience I imagine them both being decent places to go. Are you rushing? Greek life is huge at both places and I'd imagine Ole Miss is bigger there.

I live relatively close to Athens and I'm looking to be farther away. Also, Athens feels more like a city than a town. Every time I've gone I just didn't like the feeling I got. I've had awful experiences with UGA fans there and I'm sure thsts had a lot to do with why I just don't like it.

Okay more info, I live in Georgia. Out of state is much more expensive for Auburn and I have a much better chance of receiving substantial scholarships from ole miss. I plan on majoring in either economics or finance. I've been an Auburn fan my whole life but I'm having to look at which school is going to put me in a better position for a career and if Auburn is worth the extra money.
Yes, it does appear that Ole Miss is more likely to pay you a boatload of money to come to school. Just judging based on recent happenings.

No knowledge of Ole Miss other than it seems every kid who couldnt get into other schools either got accepted to Bama or Ole Miss.
I love this non-stop meme that's peddled by Auburn fans about how Auburn is supposedly hard to get into and Bama just accepts everyone. Simply not true. And Auburn, like Bama, is an average state school that is not hard at all to gain admission to.

Fair enough...it's definitely can be nice to get away from home for your college years.
That said...it has a small town feel if you live on or near campus. Downtown is pretty unparalleled among the SEC. You'll only put up with shite head Georgia fans 6 or 7 weekends a year and maybe you'll be on our side by then hah

If you want to live in ATL, than Auburn is the play for business school. Major in Finance or Econ. Join a frat. Join a business frat (requires good grades). Inter or co-op is a must every summer or every other year!!! A buddy of mine at Goldman Sacs says that 80% of their new hires are co-op college kids. Plenty of big banks or financial concerns in ATL to hide away in a cubicle for 40 years.

At the end of the day, you will be ok either way or with another choice.
In general, for most bachelor's degrees, a good state school is a good state school. Auburn was great for me, but I grew up in Alabama so it was also economical.
Financially, AU is not worth 3x what UGA is. I love AU, but I was on ROTC scholarship.

That's a first. Athens is a quintessential college town.
And if academics were extremely important to you, as you indicated, you wouldn't be deciding between Ole Miss and Auburn.

Neither will mean jack shite when you graduate if you dont know what you are doing

Maybe not the answer you are looking for, but…
What is the best school you can get into for your desired major?
General observation is a state school is okay if you will live and work in that state. If you want to excel, go to the best school you can get admitted to and work out the rest from there.
Had a relative who wanted to be in Finance and Georgetown was the best undergrad they could get in. Once accepted they got more aid each year as grades made them more desirable. Graduated and got into Harvard on the MBA track.

Come on down to Texas, son. Ol' T-Bird might can hook you up with a corps of cadets scholarship if you're interested in being a military officer. Seriously though, aside from Vandy, there's not a school in the SEC that's above UGA, UF, and A&M. So if you can get into UGA, I'd go with a smile on my face. You can still be an Auburn fan, hell on of the posters on here loves AU and went to UGA, so it can be done. Either way, best of luck!

Getting into a&m out of state is like getting into/being a Duke undergrad
Posted on 2/19/16 at 10:11 pm to NYCAuburn
yeah pretty much. The top 10% rule along with our current BOR are killing our academic integrity we've spent the past 30 years building. It kinda enrages me.
