I think they will squeeze that in this week, if only so that they can go ahead and kill off Ygritte this season...
If they go this route, my only question is how they explain Stannis suddenly showing up out of nowhere. The last time we saw him, he was still on Dragonstone. Then again, the show has also made some serious deviations from the books, so perhaps Stannis heading North isn't in the cards just yet.

I need to clarify. What I meant was the first attack on Castle Black from the relatively small wilding group that scaled the wall and attacked from the South. Not the full-blown Mammoths knocking at the door attack from Mance and the massed wilding forces to the North. IIRC, that has several aspects, stretches out for a while and is of at least a partial siege nature. It could be stretched out for quite a while, giving Stannis enough time to reach a decision and head north. Possibly a decision he could make tomorrow if Davos sees that letter from the Watch and is sufficiently convincing...

GRRM had a pretty fantastic series on his hand up until he (presumably) told his editor to kick rocks.
He'll be lucky to save it, in my opinion. I'm not sure he can bury his impulse to keep expanding... are we going to get in-depth views of Lannisport? More Oldtown? More Eyrie? ...Asshai (I actually think he said no to this)?!
He needs to streamline, and quickly. He has a GIFT for drawing characters; he can conjure up a more memorable character in 10 pages than most writers can in a novel, but he needs to recognize that the plot is dense enough. Let's propel it forward (and in a manageable way).
This poster gets it. I'll go a step further, GRRM won't finish the series. He's lost his fastball.
It's very disappointing b/c IMO, ASOS may be the best fantasy novel written. Splitting up Feast didn't work well and he's clearly struggled with his "Meerenese Knot" and the storyline north of the Wall, i.e. Bran.

I agree, I think they stop there at the Wall. Remember, Sam's returned to the Wall.

Good thread, the illiterates have to understand that at this point there are some differences between the books and the series that won't ever align. Overall, those differences are insignificant to the overall series.

There isn't one. That's why it sucked.

So it's not even worth a watch?

It was an awesome episode for the first 59 minutes, so I'd definitely watch it. The ending was just random and pointless.

It's definitely worth a watch. Took some deviations from the book and had some great scenes.
The last scene with Dany is absolute dogshit though. And even worse that they ended the episode with it.

Thanks guys. I'm waiting until the late show because a storm fricked up my DVR

Yeah, Dr. Jones told me he'd be a little later getting back to Oxford from home because it was storming pretty bad.

Well tell him I said safe travels from his home in the middle of nowhere

But Dany is Jesus?

If Jesus was a nude woman who bred and rode dragons then yes.

Why does this thread exist when we have the crackpot thread on the movie/tv board?
