Team Arya (non-smash ). I'm hoping at some point down the road she hooks back up with Gendry and he's wielding a badass war hammer.

Assuming Melisandre's dick-leech didn't kill off any "hooking up" desires by Gendry. Of course, if he is a bastard of Robert's he may be able to overcome that...

Only happened in the show. They never turned him over to her in the books. The last time he was seen in the books was when Brienne got her face bitten off.

When Bran is served the "weirwood" paste by Leaf, Jojen has disappeared. He notes specifically how it looked like blood and veins in the paste. Jojen leading up to the cave becomes more depressed and knowing that he knows when he will die (he comments on it several times) it's possible he saw his end at the cave. Cannibalism is also a pretty common theme throughout too, so it's not too much of a stretch.

I don't know that it's necessarily true but it's interesting nonetheless.

I mean more so teaming up.

I don't see a happy ending for Arya that leads to her being with anyone unfortunately.

Good point. Really, from a book perspective I had just sort of written Gendry off by the end of book 5. Probably what GRRM wants us to do...

I know, just being silly...

You're probably right. Truthfully, she is probably the one who isn't capable of loving at this point. Truly a lone wolf cut off from the pack...

She's a Faceless Man now, so I'd say intimate relationships are no longer in the cards for her.

Dead Freys and Lannisters on the other hand...

Speaking of dead Freys, after the reaction the illiterates had to the Red Wedding, I can't wait for the reaction to Wyman Manderly serving the Freys their own relatives in a pie.

I think eventually she ends up not a Faceless Man, but acquires most all of the skills to act like one when it's said and done. She reunites with Needle and wrecks shite for sure.

Except to the extent that "helping" others across the threshold of death is considered an intimacy...

That should be fun, although there will be much less wailing and gnashing of teeth...

I think her story will eventually tie back in to Sansa's, and she will enthusiastically carry out hits for Littlefinger.

You're probably right. I have this entirely unrealistic pipe dream of Arya ultimately becoming the Varys of Danaerys Targaryen's small council....

Me too. I really don't know what happened to him. GoT was published in mid 1996, CoK in mid 1998, and SoS in mid 2000. Then FfF in late 2005, and DwD in mid 2011. So he published 3 in 4 years, and then 2 in the next 11

The story outgrew his planning of the book. GRRM always likens his writing style to "gardening" as opposed to an "architect", which is very evident. IMO, he has also struggled significantly with how the magic in his world works. He intentionally leaves it vague, specially north of the wall, IMO b/c he doesn't know how the magic in his world works.

Just my $.02.

I love it.

Will we see the undead Catelyn? (Who I liked more than the live Catelyn)

I think we'll see her this episode. Last scene could be undeadCat's eyes popping open...

I'm thinking this ends up being our cliffhanger going into next season.

Next season is going to have a lot...

Purple Wedding
Battle of Castle Black (unless it is included tomorrow night)
Jon elected Lord Commander
Red Viper
The Moon Door
Tywin on the Shitter

I keep seeing people say they will include some of FfC in next season, but I don't think they can. There's still too much left in SoS.

I've told people that while the Red Wedding is obviously the big deal, next season should be just as good as a whole IMO.

I'm anxious to see who they cast as the Red Viper.

I think they will squeeze that in this week, if only so that they can go ahead and kill off Ygritte this season...
