Interesting. Drinkwitz was asked the exact same question in a presser when his name popped up at App State.

See if you can spot the difference in his answer then and today. Hmmm...

Yeah but.

I'm not sure anyone is "developing" talent anymore. One of the reasons Saban got out is kids didn't want to follow the "process" any more. We don't know how good Cignetti will be when his core of JMU players moves on. Buying talent and making fits out of the portal may well be the foreseeable future.

NFL, NBA, MLB, no one develops talent anymore. No one sits the bench to learn. Pay me, play me. MLB outlawed the shift because no one can hit to the opposite field. Base running is excrebil. NBA is 3s and dunks. Routes in the NFL are slop. Yell at a HS qb and Karen takes him to a different school.

And yes, old men yell at clouds.

At this point in his career, I think he is very self aware of his strengths and weaknesses. X and O’s aren’t a strength. Recruiting, promoting a brand, navigating the administrative duties a strength. I believe he realizes the only way he can win at the next level is with a top level NIL, regardless of the school. He needs to over achieve in recruiting to compensate for coaching.

Yep. It’s not complicated.

All these coaches look like an offensive genius if they have a top NFL bound quarterback. Drink has not had one yet. He has done very well building the program otherwise.

I think Eli's concerns are valid with the NIL. To get that top quarterback last year Michigan had to pay 12 Million. How high will the bidding war go this year?

Lane Kiffin might be able to demand a 10 year 150 million dollar contract. Costs are going up and up and up. Fans do not seem to be checking out over the high cost of a ticket at some schools either.

I won't accept any Brady Cook slander.

Wow thank you I didn't know Brady made the Jets roster. The guy keeps surprising me.

Why was he so good in 2023 and so bad in 2024? Has anything been said on the interwebz about how that happened? His stats were way down in 2024 according to Bernie Miklasz.

Every year as a starter he played well when healthy and poorly when injured. He got injured every year. Seems to be a recurring theme under Drink. Not sure why.

Cook does not deserve that.

He looked overmatched at times. But he rarely looked as completely lost as Pribula did quite frequently once we started facing good defenses.

Tough crowd (lol).

Cook was obviously a better QB than Pribula ... granted with a similar arm and inability to read defenses.

That last part is what has plagued Mizzou offenses since Chase/Gabbert/Lock left ...

There's a reason those 3 saw significant back up roles in the NFL ... maybe Cook gets there with better coaching.

Had no idea this scenario would play out as early as the OU game when I made this suggestion in jest.
