Mizzou went 4-4 last season in the SEC. and still has a pretty good shot at that this season.

8 wins would be a decent season.

That is what I picked at the beginning of the season. I am still going with that. That is what I have said if he makes progress every year and there is no way Odom will be fired. 7-5 will be a disappointment but if the team loses close games and still make improvement then I would go one more year. That is the same way with Kentucky. The head coach was there for over 5 years and in his 6th year. Got to give Odom a chance. If Barry Odom does not get a chance to prove to be the guy then what other proven head coach would want to coach at Missouri? You do not fire a head coach that is making progress from a year ago.

Most of this board made their mind up on Odom in 2016, by mid season.

I think BO will eventually be a really good coach, it just may not be at Mizzou.

Because truthfully we all know Barry should be coaching year 3 at Memphis this year.

Yea had GP stayed healthy that’s probably true. The way his teams have improved from beginning of season to the end and from year to year is why I think he eventually will be a really good HC.

Will Mizzou fans accept 2-3 7 win seasons until he gets there? According to this site the answer is no.

From what I've heard Mizzou would probably have Campbell if they hadn't low balled him with money.

I'd venture to say he'd have at least a signature win at this point.

The point is if there is improvements from the previous year, then it is good. No coach will want to coach Missouri if Odom is fired after showing improvements from the year before. That is why Odom should be around as long as he have his team showing improvements each year.

Where did you hear we offered Campbell? Seems odd we would “lowball” Campbell but then turn around and give BO more money than Campbell got from Iowa St. That almost makes one think an offer was never made at all? That and the fact it was never reported.

Again, Campbell is 13-17 in a lesser league. You’d be happy with that if we had a “signature” win? I somehow doubt it.

Aside from Campbell, is there anyone else or are we going to lament about the sub .500 Iowa St coach until BO is gone?

He's also at a lesser school with less talent.

Still managed to beat 3 ranked teams.

It was all over on the SEC rant that MSU have a much better talents by a mile! That is why they were rank in the top 25 even though the head coach is in his first year.

By a mile? Really...

So their offensive line is better than ours? QB better than ours? Skill players better than hours?

Only arguments you could make are Sweat on the edge, Simmons at DT(which an argument could be made our group of DT’s as a whole are better), Leo Lewis, and Peters at DB. Their WR’s have trouble holding on to the ball and their QB is one dimensional. Not as deep as us at RB.

Their ranking was based on NFL talent in the front 7 returning and this notion that Moorhead will elevate the offense on a team that has appeared in 8 straight bowl games. If Missouri was not so inconsistent in the past 4 years, we may have gotten votes as well.

Campbell never, ever considered Mizzou. several years ago he and his wife drove through Ames on game day, he loved the atmosphere and told his wife if that job ever opened up, he would take it. As luck had it, it opened up at the perfect time. He never looked or interviewed elsewhere.

First of all Missouri was not rank in the beginning of the season and MSU was and that is with an unproven first year head coach. Why was that? loaded with talents is why they were rank to begin the season. Missouri did not have that same talents but pieces of talents here and there. Not like MSU.

Missouri had 7 preseason All SEC preseason players as voted on by the coaches to States 5 and this does not count any of our offensive lineman making any team, but yea sure State has substantially more talent than Mizzou by your metrics.

You know what I don’t think you have any idea on the make up of their roster to really have a discussion on this so I’ll just stop replying.

Have you had a chance to read TJ Moes tweets on Odom this week? Some really good takes.

I didn't want Odom from the beginning, but I have this weird feeling if he makes a couple of changes on his staff Mizzou will take off to the next level. If he put his cronie Ryan Walters back as secondary coach and get a defensive position coach from Bama, LSU or Auburn and make him D-coordinator and it will help shore up the whole defense and recruiting. Dooley should study the offensive scheme of the LA Rams under McVay and watch this team take off. That offensive scheme makes a lesser talented player look better.

If Odom does these things he will be the guy. Saban and Urban Meyer are 2 of the few coaches who make their assistant coaches look better. Most teams assistants make the coach look better. This is my opinion and I'm sticking with it.

Bernie (blech) was right. This university needs to stop living off SEC welfare.

If he's winning 7 he'll get time.

If it's 5-6 beating blood donors and going 2-6 in conference, no.

The problem is his teams keep finding ways to play down to the level of their competition and come up short.
