Voters got sick of the shakedown and finally voted not to subsidize the Royals or Chiefs anymore. If they want to walk, let them.

I think if Arrowhead renevations alone was on the nallot it passes. The Royals plan to build a Stadium downtown, use eminent domain to tear down businesses pissed peolpe off. The K is seen as a good stadium by the fans and frankly the shitshow minus that couuple of year blip has eroded support. I mean since Kaufman died in 2007 they have a total of 3 winning seasons. The 2 World Series and even the win in 2015 have been surrounded by epic failures including the worst season in franchise history last year.

The Royals blew this entirely. The East Village location makes more sense than the Crossroads. You wouldn't have to displace lots of other businesses and more room at the East Village location. Parking was deemed an issue as well. Then the plan regarding Oak Street... come on... No open lines of communication really with the county and city. Crazy...the Royals expected we would pass it especially since the CHIEFS were attached to it. I wasn't enamored with the Chiefs plan either.

So taxpayers don't want to subsidize billionaires who want to build more luxury suites?

How selfish of them.

The renderings look sick.

Would be a great plan for the Royals. But also should be funded by… the Royals.

I might be wrong don’t they still pay the sales tax until 2031even if the teams leave?I think the vote was to extend the tax until 2064 and not start a new tax.

With better marketing this would have easily passed. It will eventually pass or they will move to Kansas

They spent tons on marketing but it was so unpopular even royals legend Frank white was campaigning to vote no. They had no chance thankfully.

Why does anyone think that KC KS, with a fraction of the population of the Missouri side of the River, can give the desired tax support? This is a game of Owners playing politicians for fools. The public has had enough of it.

The Chiefs are not going anywhere. The Royals might, and good riddance.

Putting on my usual tin foil hat, I wonder if the Royals ownership intentionally tanked the vote in order to justify moving the team. The belated location announcement and other last minute details show either a disorganized Royal operation or a planned intent to make voters distrust them. We now the owner's wife on Facebook throwing gas on the fire as pertains to Jackson County in which she claims no future negotiations with Jackson County-another stupid threat that does not sit well. As a lifelong fan, not sure I will continue to support them even if they stay somewhere in MIssouri. Same for the Chiefs, even if they move to Kansas.

This all just makes me glad I quit following all pro sports about 15 years ago. None of it is about the fans anymore and never will be again until something drastic happens.

I was a big time pro sports fan but it ended for me when the NFL let Kroenke f-over STL. I still haven't watched a complete NFL game since.

No clue what the Cards and Blues are doing.

I am literally down to MU football and whatever MU sport is doing well at the moment.
