DJ Smith is the Co-defensive coordinator so it probably fills itself.

Steeples to lock up St. Louis recruiting. He also takes over safeties. And you know who needs to come back as DL coach with all this talent. We need to forgive and forget. DL Zou would be nuts with Kul back.

No thanks. Steeples has yet to be part of a good defensive staff.
And Kul sucked arse everywhere but Mizzou. That indicates it was probably more Pinkel and less Kul who made that defensive line click.

Baker sucked except for Mizzou. And Pinkel had nothing to do with the DL success. Baker needed to blitz to create Havoc rates. Kul had better Havoc rates just using his DE's.
Steeples is a hell of a coach. He was good in HS, and the NFL. He helps lock up St. Louis, and if DJ takes over, he will need experienced coaches around him if he wants to get off to a fast start.

No he didn't. His DEs were terrible after Mizzou. Clearly it wasn't kul's doing.
As for Baker, he sucked for the majority of his time at Mizzou. The defense wasn't elite under his leadership.

Agreed! Either get a top shelf proven hire or find another Baker type hire.

We’re doing fine in St. Louis without Steeples. Coach Reed is more important.
If he’s a good fit and Drink wants him, fine. I wouldn’t target him to target him.

Blake coached the safeties. If we're gonna have to get a safeties coach anyways, Steeples can do that AND he's a good St. Louis connection.
Just a thought of covering 2 bases with 1 hire. Steeples and Reed can maybe help us keep ND and OSU out. They kill us.

If we got the money to spend on anyone, go get either Jim leonhard or jesse minter. But if you hire from outside, that’s a big frick you to dj smith who followed drink from App State.

Big supporter of Jim Leonhard, and he can slide right in to coach safeties as well. If we’re going to hire from outside, he’s number 1 in my opinion. He had Wisconsin's D rolling while he was there and he’s still young. Has connections in the Midwest

What about bring in Roof and/or House as an analyst? both were fired as DC?
