I think people have been born, had families, had careers, and reached retirement age since then (it was over 65 years ago), so I really have no point of view on this at all since I wasn't alive then and have no connection to speak of.
I do know when others talk about ancient championships or who claim championships years and years after the fact I tend to roll my eyes in a who gives a shite manner.
I suppose for those who were around then and are still alive, especially those who were part of the team, it is a nice gesture.

I agree, this is like getting in the 1960 Hall of Fame in 2026. I am all for claiming Championships but this one is like ancient history.

I know the guys from that team never claimed it, but they deserve it! Most are gone now, but they would have loved to get together on the 19th and tell stories about each other.
I hope the ones still alive can make it and receive the standing ovation they have coming to them.

Good.
We have this thing that developed in the Big8/12 days about "doing the right thing" and being hard to get into and shite, but that's all gone away.
Mizzou isn't close to a "Public Ivy" anymore, probably never really was, but it's sure as hell not now with all this acceptance stuff.
Not claiming 1960 is a relic from a time when we were "better" than our compatriots, more honorable.
I hope we've learned that being honorable doesn't pay dividends. These are decisions "we" made a long time ago, but we could have had the benefits just as long ago had we not made the honorable decision.
Learn the lesson.
Nobody respects a Mizzou degree like it's better than an Arkansas or Iowa degree outside of select areas like Journalism (a joke in general, but we're also sucking in those rankings) or maybe some ag shite.
Claim everything.

Meanwhile, here I sit in a non Midwest/Southern area with a Mizzou degree and it might as well be fricking Columbia College.
I don't know what they thought Mizzou would become, but it's pretty clear most schools are the product of their state and our product is well trained adults that everyone outside of the midwest and SEC bubbles thinks are morons.
Mizzou aint Washington or UCLA. It maybe could have been, but then someone used shite to draw a swastika on a wall in a dorm and now we're Angola.
