The implication of a "reduced buyout" would be that there is enough recorded that it may potentially be considered "for cause" by a reasonable person but that would obviously require litigation, which neither side would want. I bring up the PIP example because a PIP is just paperwork in anticipation of a 'for cause" termination. I was more thinking about the "any duties" language within "e." Stories I saw said the morals clause was why it was insane, but e. is obv a catchall that seems like it could cover most anything with enough paperwork. If Chris Low says it can't happen, then I guess it's not worth the state of Louisiana to look into and they should just open the checkbook.
It's not big brained, super simple brained. It's contract law and attorneys. PIP was just an example.
Probably really comes down to what "for cause" means in his buyout clause.

If he was hired to coach players then maybe he was fired without cause. If his job is to win games/perform on key performance metrics (like winning games) he may have been fired for cause.

Truth is, most of the people talking about this are meatheads or hicks trying to determine what's going to happen based on contract law. It could easily be that LSU has a PIP system and he's been written up enough to create cause, just like any other state employee but with a higher salary and no union representation.
So he'd have been fired if he wasn't good at the most important emerging trend in college football?

Hot take
Wouldn't say that, but it can be that in the future. Lots of untapped potential out there. We've got location in the SEC (and the state tbh) against us, but winning cures all and I trust Drink to do it more than anyone else on the board if he were to dip out on us.

Changing the culture takes time, Pink was there and we fricked up that whole transition. Stronger now.
Also a donor and how he plays this will probably flavor my future opinion of him. Shouldn't do too much talking, and he's played it well so far in the face of lots of great opportunity. Not that I would expect much else.
Agree. No need to even consider him

Plus, dumb name that doesnt make sense in the souf
Pretty big premium in selling tickets to visiting fans on the secondary market and Nashville knows how to capitalize on an event. Pretty lucky Mizzou has the same colors as Vandy last weekend or there would be some funny threads on tRant based on crowd noise.
If Drink leaves, it's because of what I said in the PSU thread and the self fulfilling policy of the "woe is me" Missouri fan where we don't think we can ever win. We got a great glimpse of it in the Vandy game. "lose by a half yard" and mentions of the north endzone bullshite curse. Fanbase is snakebitten but wants to be good. Expect this dude to stay because we've set it up for him to be the first real national championship coach at Mizzou and he wants to do that because we've made it easier than anyone else to have the opportunity.

Cubs curse shite only works when they're lovable losers. Mizzou fans aren't lovable losers. We need to win and Drink is the one to do it. Not because he's great, but because winning makes everything you do okay and we've set him up for everything he does to be okay when it comes to paying high schoolers or getting facilities. I love this man until he shits on us and leaves and I know he won't do that. Only difference between us and blueblood is history and shitty cursestricken fans and weve set a fence around the state of Missouri (including LOTO) that is a huge advantage.

We drove Mercedes, I assumed BMW was the same. We used to go to Legend Automotive on Vandiver for service, but were sent to KC or STL for real issues.

Think what you want about my time in Columbia, the points I made remain the same, which, I'll double down on, support Mizzou and Eli staying unless his wife and kids want to be city rich.

I know LOTO once I disconnected it from the context of the Trader Joes response.

For personal context: I haven't lived in Missouri for 20+ years. LOTO just being shite out there as a common acronym isn't something I encounter regularly.

I don't know LOTO, but a Trader Joes is a step.

I live in a biggish city, but I only buy my meat at Whole Foods and I'm upper class, but not Eli Drinkwitz money.

I just can't see $10,000,000/year people being happy eating from the fricking butchers counter at Gerbes if there's a better/super common in not a small city option like Whole Foods.

Guessing they can just get choppered or chauffeured into STL or KC for fancy clothing shopping, or even good meat shopping, but that's got to get old if you can live in a spot in or close to places with actual big city rich stuff.

Like, does STL or KC have a Hermes store or a Moncler? Some place where wealthy people can spend wealthy type money?

It doesn't really matter, just saying that's the only reason to leave.

Also, Love CoMo when I was there. I'm sure it's even more awesome now.

Edit: Figured out LOTO, but that's also semi-low class shite in relation to 10mil/year. Flexing on a LOTO spot is like $300k/year status, which is obv 30x less than Drinkwitz level.

Again, not arguing against him staying. Just saying you top out as a social/rich person in Central Missouri if status is what you desire. Obv Eli doesn't, but there are potentially other people involved in this.
I see no risk in him leaving, but, it's not the best place to be rich or rich adjacent, especially if you're new money. That's it. That's the risk I see.
Do they already get paid despite not playing?

I'm embarrassed to ask. Let me GPT this shite.
Old Missus is at least 10 points better than OU.
They're moneyballing coaches now that everyone's moneyballing players and the field is even. The edge is getting smaller.

Only lesson from this.

As I said in the Kiffin thread, the only reason to leave is the same.

Do you like living in Columbia vs somewhere else. It's in the middle of fricking Missouri as a low major city with a dying mall and like 3 fancy restaurants. It's a tough place to flex money. It may not matter for Eli, but it might matter for the wife.

Happy Valley isn't better, but what is?

Also, I haven't been to CoMo for at least 20 years, perhaps it's not as far away from nice things as it used to be. Pretty sure there's a BMW and MB dealership there now, back when I was there we had to go to STL or KC to get an oil change. Still, can only buy so many nice things at Maurice's at the Columbia Mall.

I don't expect him to leave, but if he ever does, it will be to somewhere that's not in the middle of nowhere.

I think most people think the Saban spawn is mid af because of her schnoz. I'm not one of them, of course.
