Norvell is not the guy to take over in the SEC. Need someone at Power 5 or an assistant at a powerhouse like OSU, Alabama, LSU, so forth. We need someone with the experience at a powerhouse level of knowledge that can recruit top players as well.
Nobody is recruiting top players to Mizzou. I’d be more interested in a guy with head coaching experience than a coordinator. Though it’s not a deal breaker.
I’m not sure Id be very high on Norvell though. Pretty confident we’d be talking about how much he sucked and wanting him fired in a couple of years also.

You were high on a homer with no HC experience, but will pass on a Norvell?
Sounds pretty JQish to me.

He’s had 1 really good year, 2 mediocre ones and a very good start to this year (of course the only decent team they played was Ole Miss BEFORE Plumlee)
Took over a program that won 19 games the two years prior to his arrival.
His defenses have always been awful.
I mean the resume is decent. I don’t see why anyone would get super excited about the hire though. At best he’s treaded water, and arguably the program has gotten worse.
Oh, and his defenses have always sucked.
Not the direction I would look, but not sure it matters all that much. We’d be shitting all over him and trying to get him get fired in a couple of years anyway.

What about Clark from AUB?
Posted on 10/29/19 at 5:04 pm to wubilli
UAB? I’d like him over Norvell personally.
Just a roll of the dice anyway.
I think he’ll be gone before we are hiring anybody and will have better opportunities though

Looking at powerhouse schools in football. OSU, LSU, Alabama, and some others. Les Miles? he is doing great right now. getting things going but still ways to go. Illinois? Same thing. Boise St? they seems to be up there every year. but not good in SEC. Assistant is best way to go if from a powerhouse school.

Norvell's defense has been in the upper half of the conference with a top 3 offense. They have won their division the last two years and are on the way to doing it again. That isn't treading water.

Who have Memphis played? No one worthy! You don't get it. It is about playing top teams and be competitive against them and beat them from time to time. But you think playing at a lesser conference and playing lesser teams is still good enough for you to see that the head coach is great fit for Missouri? What about Heupel at UCF? That is not a good one. Look at Frost at Nebraska! What happened? He was the hottest one from UCF when he was head coach there. See what I mean? Not mean squat if they come to Missouri and flopped just like some of the others.

You really put the anal in analysis.

Powerhouse teams are very good because of 4 and 5 stars players. That will give any coach from a top program an idea of what will be needed to compete with those of 4 and 5 stars players. Get a coach from the NFL that have college coaching experience might be another good idea. I am trying to get some ideas out to what Missouri should be looking into before go to the cheap lowly route like Barry Odom. He is a great guy but I realized he is not the answer. I know it is hard to find that right coach.

What about Heupel

Look at Frost at Nebraska!

Dan Mullen is doing a fantastic job at Florida this year. Should beat Missouri this year.
Missouri need to look at powerhouse schools that have been good yearly. Get a good assistant that can recruit 4 and 5 stars players.

It’s treading water when they were doing just as good (better) before he took the job.
They went 8-6 last year lol.
Memphis is the 1 or 2 best job in the CUSA. Biggest stadium in that conference. Located in a nice hotbed of talent. They have many advantages of the “comparable schools” they are competing against. That’s like saying Alabama and Mizzou are comparable because they are both in the SEC.
We can disagree. It’s cool. Just not a guy I would target. I don’t anticipate him doing very well in a bigger conference.

Why you saying that? Have you notice 4 and 5 stars players make huge difference to compete with the top teams? This is what I think Missouri need to do to compete against UGA and Florida and possible Tennessee and Kentucky! Coaching need to be good and be able to get more 4 and 5 stars players to compete with the top teams. No other way! Missouri cannot beat LSU Alabama. Why? Not only the coaches are better but the players are 4 and 5 stars that fit their style of play. Les Miles is one I think would do well but is too old and Missouri passed on him.

Fuente won his division once in 4 years and lost 4 of 5 on his way out the door.
Houston, UCF, USF, and Cincinnati all dwarf Memphis's enrollment, have better facilities and the same or better proximity to talent. The Liberty bowl is a shite box.
Let's not church things up.

Your ability to be wrong is unmatched. If a monkey flips a quarter it's going to be correct half the time, but your predictions are close to 98% incorrect.
It's like you're an idiot savant, and by that I mean you're a savant at being an idiot.
If you're this against I say we pull the trigger now.

I do not get why you think he is that good? Barry was at Memphis and so what make you think he is better than Barry Odom? No way I see it as a better replacement than Barry Odom. One other thing I notice many Missouri fans complain that Missouri does not get more 4 and 5 stars players. So you think he will get 4 and 5 stars players?
