I'm sure you haven't heard this before.
1. You go to the portal to gain starting players.
Drink has and is doing that.
2. You go to the portal to grab third string and backups.
Drink is doing that.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you're not going to be excited about every portal addition

but the other Auburn player is 5-10
The ND safety is 6'5", so we'll just have them on the field at the same time so that our safeties average out to a 6'2" guy.
Happy?

I have seen other SEC teams doing a much better job so far.
Of the 7 SEC teams ranked ahead of Mizzou in the portal, 3 have a higher average player rating. Mizzou is at 88.0 average. oU is 88.2 OM is 88.8 and LSU is 89.44. The staff is holding their own in the portal......again.

Other than QB, Drink has nailed the portal.
Unfortunately that's a pretty big "other". Will Simmons change this? We'll see . . .

The OL has been the problem this past season
Dude you are sounding like the other fanbases talking about Mizzou blah blah, not enough stars, recruiting is not good enough blablah. Also the OLine blocked for the leading rusher in D1 last year plus another 700+ yard back. Was not perfect on pass blocking but hardly a trainwreck either.

Auburn's D was consistently excellent this year, period. Reason enough to want players from that D. Pretty confident we got an extremely steady playmaker with the linebacker we signed.
The way Auburn's D kept performing this year as their offense kept losing games was commendable. Suggests most, if not all, the kids on that D had some mental toughness and competitiveness you want.
I don't mind taking chances on contributors from that defense.

I'm tepid on the signing too, but it will be interesting to see what the real threat of second and third level throws does to opposing defenses trying to stuff the run.
We're still going to lean into the run, but if Simmons can deliver on deeper throws this offense could hum.

Just got Josh Atkins LT from ASU. Originally recruited by Jones at Houston. 1 year of eligibility left but lots of LT experience. Does this push Green inside?

The OL struggled against defenses with a pulse. We were not able to just impose our running game on everyone.

Once everyone figured out how easy it was to defend our offense (corners watch the sidelines, everyone else in the box) it all ground to a halt. Unless we learn to go over the top between the hashmarks, next year will be more of the same.

Auburn and oU were the only defenses that held Missouri to less than 150 yds rushing. They ran into 8 and 9 man boxes in every conference game. Run blocking was definitely not the problem.

yeah, we didnt play more than a few really good defenses.

Is Atkins worth getting excited about? He comes from a good offense and was the blind side protection for a sought-after QB.
Is he a big part of the reason for all that, or was he just a guy that filled that spot?

I'd say Atkins will definitely be 1 of our top 5. Greens position flexibility will play into it like last year.

I think Atkins is the new RT.

Is that a difficult transition, switching sides?

If he wants to play its what he will have to do. Green was 2nd team All SEC. I dont think this will push Green back inside
