Why did Drinkwitz bring him in for a visit? I guess you sounded like he would have won the job and would not get hurt again. There will be other players for him to get soon. Drinkwitz said he will be waiting for players to be transferring to the portal after Spring games have been played. I would rather get OL, DL and what other players Drinkwitz is looking for to get for starter and depth.

I'm not upset about that at all.

There are more pressing needs than quarterback. One recruit hasn't joined the team yet. He will get his chance and more likely will be the starter this Fall.

I still have confidence in our current QB room. So imo this is just a nice to have.

The sentiment still stands... someone in the QB room will rise to the challenge.

JT is better off in the Big 12 anyway. He couldn't succeed with Georiga's beast of a line so he would get lit up here for sure... MIZ

As much as he could have helped, he is injury prone and could have driven off both Cook and Macon leaving the QB room way too thin if he got hurt again. Hopefully both will stick around until Horn is ready.

Wondering if this is good or bad news about Benjamin Key now entering the transfer portal. He is a DL. I thought DL was needed for depth?

If it's being done to make room for a DT that will contribute, then it's a very good thing. Key never played in his 2 years here, and we ain't exactly been the Steel Curtain in that time frame.

Marcus Washington has decided texas sucks and entered the portal. He was a 4* WR from Trinity Catholic in STL. Don’t know if we need another WR or if his 2 TDs in all of last year will help, but maybe.

He sounds legit. All Conference 3 years and All-American the last 2 years. Draft Scout had Coleman 6’5.5” and 245 lbs with his fastest 40 of 4.72.

"Over the last three years, he has appeared in ten games for the Bears."

Appeared in 10 games over 3 years? What? Special teams? A series in garbage time?

Sounds a little shaky.

Did I tell you that there are needed bodies to take over if needed and you never know he might beat out others on current roster. Rotation and backup. Let Drinkwitz do his job. He isn't going to get 4* players that will start for any top team. Drinkwitz hasn't been a proven HC. That is why it is critical to win 8 games or more. 7 will be okay if most of other games that ended to be competitive and not being a blowout loss. I am happy so far with recruiting. Drinkwitz needs to continue to recruit similar to what he did last time. There should be no step back or drop off in the next recruiting class. That is the only way to keep up and can get the roster filled up with mostly 4* and 5* players and few high 3* players. It is doable. Then there is the transfer portal. Do not forget Drinkwitz is not have much experienced as a HC. He is doing fine and give him the time to build the program.

Why bother if he isn't going to be the starter? Maybe for backup role? Most need 3 quarterbacks that can play right away. I have no idea why Drinkwitz wanted to bring him in if not to be the starter but for insurance? Maybe an injury to others to get him playing some playing time?

Abrahms has committed, will start as walk on - chance for scholarship if he wins the job.

In his final season at USM he led the nation in completion %

If that's indeed the case, I like it. It should make for some lively competition this summer heading into fall camp. All four QBs will see that QB1 spot as attainable. Who rises up and grabs it?

Right now I'm leaning towards Cook, but just barely.
