Looking for any reasons for optimism...

- Johnson and Etienne are averaging 7.5+ YPR

- UF OL should be able to run on Tennessee's DL - UF has ran for 7.3YPA against Utah, 4.5 YPA against UK, 7.2 YPA against USF. Tennessee's DL relatively speaking isn't as good as Utah's or UK's.

- UF's defensive strengths match up better with Tennessee, moreso than Utah's and USF's. UF's defense shut down UK's offense for the most part by overwhelming their OL. Why UF wasn't able to do the same against USF is baffling... and frankly a big indictment on the defensive coaching.

- Tennessee has all the pressure on the world to win this game - literally every big show except for SEC Nation will be there. Hopefully UF can just go out and play.

Shorten the game, bend but don't break defense - don't give Tennessee any easy long balls - make them drive the field and hope Hooker makes a few mistakes.

Get it to the 4th Q, and anything can happen.

IMO, to have any success on offense, we need to limit AR to less than 15 pass attempts a game, hoping that he will hit open receivers and not throw to the other team. This will take some pressure off the running game by keeping the defense honest. Our O line and backs are good to pound the ball, run the clock. It would help a lot of AR would be a willing runner every now and then.
On the defensive side, IMO we just need to stack the box and hope the DBs can cover good enough to minimize too many big plays, but we must stop the run!!!
Special teams are good, just don't run the kickoffs out and take the ball on the 25, please.

I think we have to somehow get a decently big lead early, praying for a turnover or two, maybe some magic on special teams, whatever it takes. I'm not at all confident in our defense holding onto a small lead late in the game.
Would love to see Johnson and Etienne take control and make it a short game. Wouldn't mind seeing Kitna for a series or two either.

I’m predicting a worse game than 2016. We have zero play makers on both sides of the ball besides ETN and Johnson. Load the box against both of them and Richardson, and it’ll be an easy win for TN. Book it. Richardson has already proven he’s either too hurt to run or has decided not to run. Force the pass with zero threat. That’s how they’ll win.

I think it will be a great game to just go out and play and see if we can compete. AR is a mental mess, so hopefully he doesn't suck and we are competitive. I think you will see the biggest jump from year 1 to year 2 with coaches like Billy. You don't go from a shite show to a completely disciplined team in 9 months. We have to flush some of the old guys out of the system like the DE from Georgia. Be glad when he is gone. He will never be a team player and we need 11 of them all being team players for every play of the game.

The one bit of hope I'm holding on to is the fact that their main facet on offense is passing, which is what we're better against. We're gonna move the ball on their defense, but will it be enough.

It's going to be a tough game for a team installing a new defense with a coordinator who hasn't faced them before. You've got to weather the storm and then hold them in check.

* Team talent index: Gators # 12, Tennessee #19

* Composite Blue Chip 4 and 5 star recruits: Gators 46, Tennessee 26 - The Gators have 77% more recruited high school blue chippers than Tennessee

* Rushing Offense: Gators #32 (212 yards/game), Tennessee #56 (182 yards/game)

* Pass Efficiency Defense: Gators #27, Tennessee #37

We need to have faith. The Gators have the talent over Tennessee and are decent at the 2 things that must be done to beat a team like Tennessee that has that hurry up high powered passing attack.

Eh, after the last 2 games that's kind of a difficult ask.

Well we bring back the entire secondary that held them to 14 points last season and we ran the ball right down their throats last season also.

Matt, we could be winless going into Georgia, and you'd think we'd go in and blow 'em out.

You are correct, as a fan I don't expect the Gators to lose to anybody. I never, ever, never accept a loss before it happens.

Especially against the ankle biting, butt sniffing, ball licking mutts!

Don't doubt the mighty Gators just yet. We held this offense to just 14 points last season after they were scoring in bunches previously and we held them to less points than even Bama and Georgia did in addition to running the ball all over them. I like it also that our entire secondary from that game is starting again this game.

Exactly, stack the box and make Hooker beat us with his arm.

That is exactly what Tennessee is going to do to AR. And he's proven, he can't.

I agree, so if we do it too we turn this game into a tight one with us having a chance to win in the end. If so, I like our chances. Go Gators.
