So Leipold's star is falling, as is Klieman. Rest easy Kansas schools, we don't want your coaches anymore.

I have 0 clue what will happen with Napier the rest of the way.

But 100% for sure he has to change the big concerns on the staff.
The defensive Philosophy needs to change completely. The defense needs to move in a different direction next year and he needs to go get a real true OC and O-line coach

That can coach!!! because with NIL how hard you recruit does not matter.
All that matters now is how much money each players can make.

Call me crazy but I can see the uncertainty with the UF president buying Napier another year if he overhauls the coaching staff, hires a OC and takes on a more CEO type role.

I absolutely believe Napier will be here next year and with the right changes could be successful.
Lagway the clear starter, the young receivers and running back getting better, and a much better proven SEC DC, Running things could potentially turn things around
But we will see

I like him as a Head piece, he needs to give up the offense and get a legit DC.

it's too late for Lagway to be successful. he needed legit sophomore/junior OLs to protect him. poor fella will be running for his life for the next 3 years if he doesn't transfer.

Napier needs to:

1a. New/ONE OL coach that can actually coach and recruit.
1b. New OC to give full reign to.
2. Get rid of Armstrong. He's a wasted paycheck. Giver Roberts a raise or upgrade to a new DC.
3. Is Will Harris doing his job correctly? I don't really know.

but yeah, i'm starting to believe he's going to be here through next year.

Napier is gone. Not going to be making assistant changes.

No Finch

He needs to get rid of Robert's and Armstrong and go get a top Notch proven SEC DC
With a completely different philosophy on Defense. And let the DC bring in his own D LINE coach and DB coach.

The defense needs a complete overhaul do not keep anyone with this defensive philosophy

Guys there's no way Napier is coming back next year.

And even if he did, the time to do those whole sale changes were last season. Even then it was too late. It's way too late now.

Napier hired Toney, Armstrong, and Roberts in succession. He is a bad coach not just on game day but as a CEO type HC.

There's no indication he'd be willing to gut everything and even if he were forced to there's no indication that he'd be able to move forward in a competent manner.

He's done.

Which top notch DC would work for Billy whose beyond on the hot seat?

The one decent hire he made (probably because of Spurrier), Fitzgerald, left for BC after 3 weeks because he didn't want to work for Billy.

No qualified candidate is coming here if Billy is still coach.

Napier very likely won't be here but if I was Lagway I wouldn't stay unless UF secured a couple of proven power 4 O linemen in the portal. Not someone you can't be sure about like Dickson from San Diego State.

This is the problem; he hasn't shown any willingness to change.

If I knew that he would make changes, I would support him returning but if next year is the same as this season when we all said he needed to get a play caller, improve the defense, etc. If this happens all we do is kick the can down the road again and get farther behind the top half of the SEC.

Exactly. He's not pulling in a top tier staff now.

Rumors about Charlie Strong, Mark Pantoni, and Ryan Stamper being in town over the weekend. Might have your interim, new GM, and new head of the Heavner complex if true.

Napier is a nice guy and it woulda been great if he succeeded here. But after 2+ years, we all know what we are looking at. Can't have short term memory after a decent win vs. one of the worst teams in the SEC. The product on the field is all that matters and, against any team with a pulse, it's been lackluster.

I think outside of RB/WR coach, Napier needs to fire his whole staff. Is he doing that? No. So we will continue getting the same results.

Up to this point, Napier has been good at selling hope to recruits and fans. I don't think he can do that anymore, and that doesn't bode well for the future.

One of the many weaknesses that are showing in year 3 is the ability to, as coach Spurrier would say, "coach the guys up." This is due to poor coaching and direct result of Napier bringing his buddies with him to UF and not going out and hiring top assistants or firing poor performers. His evaluation skills are as bad in hiring coaching talent as they are evaluating players.

I Agree,
That is the same problem that Mullen had with wanting to keep Hevesy and Grantham!!!

Napier's hevesy and Grantham are Sale/Stapleton and Armstrong/Roberts

Maybe I'm wrong but I think the talent is there on defense for them to be better than they are.
If Roberts is right and they don't trust Each other out there on the field than it won't get any better as the season goes along it will only get worse.
You can see it when a play doesn't go there way it's almost like they give up on defense.

Plenty of portal players have elevated some teams a lot. That thinking you couldn't build with a chunk of portal players also has proven to be nonsense but just like high school recruiting you better be good at evaluating who to spend money on. We reached on a lot of portal guys this past class. The 2 doing a little something were the only ones that were pretty sure bets to be ready. Badger and Howard. Slackman and most of the others were reaches.
