im so done with this baseball team, they have no knowledge about situational hitting, and the pitching staff walks more guys than and orderly in a geriatric wing

I didn't get to watch any of the games this weekend but from what I keep hearing Carlos Cortez is the key weak link right now. He's left something like 48 runners stranded this season already. That's a huge number.

Cortes is an issue i agree, but my opinion is the gameplan of kingston is the issue. Hear me out, he took a small ball team and wants them to hit the big fly, not gonna happen. So they all instead of good iq swings just swing for the fences.

See, you're not the first fan to say that and I get it, I do. And it is true he wants them taking good cuts at the ball but he's said he just wants them to bring runners home come hook or crook. He did say earlier in the season that he wants to develop a power hitting team ... but some of these guys could hit a slow pitch softball. I mean they are missing by a mile.

On top of all of that we've got pitchers who simply cannot put the ball across the plate with anything other than knee high fast balls and good hitting teams are gonna tee off on those. If they could get a curve or slider or changeup across the plate this would be a completely different ball team ... especially on Saturdays and Sundays.

There is about to be some serious turnover on this team during the off-season.

We pulled out a pretty huge Game #1 win against Arkansas over their previously unbeaten Ace pitcher, and still have Hill and Morris available for the next two games. It doesn't guarantee anything the way we've played this season, and Arkansas at home is pretty tough. But it at least gives us as good of a chance as we'll ever get, so I'm happy and hopeful for now....

Huge win. Hopefully we can pull another one out. They have owned us at their place even in our great years ... keeping my fingers crossed.

This is partly true, yes. Kingston has said that in his lineups he wants to have 2 types of hitters. His power guys that will have the approach you mentioned, and the speed guys. Power guys will swing more up on the ball going for extra base hits while the speed guys have a more leveled out swing and are just trying to drive the ball. I will agree that our team was more suited for small ball and guys who are more suited for that are now being asked to be more power guys but stating that every batter has that approach isn't necessarily true. Campbell, Tolbert and to a lesser extent Bride, typically have more of a line drive swing than a crank it outta the park swing.

All of that being said, no one, for the most part, is going up there looking to lay down a bunt unless its a one run game in the late innings. Above all else, Kingston looks to the stats. No ones approach is going to work every time, he's looking for one that gives them the best odds to be successful. You'll have guys like Olson, who make great contact and hit the crap out of the ball but it will go straight to a fielder. That shite happens and will make the numbers look worse than the AB's really were.

Finally with all of the trolling we've had back and forth with the pigs this week I'm disappointed no one's made a thread to roll up that homo Pigfeet.

Cortes has been hitting much better lately beginning with the UTjr. series. He's already moving up around .250 BA, when not too long ago he was well under .200. Don't want to put any jinx on him, but hopefully it is a sign that he's figured out his plate approach, or is reading pitches better, and will have a strong final half to the season.

Olson is still scuffling however, down under .200 all season. He is still a home run leader for the team, and with the power has been able to drive in runs, so that's a big reason why the staff hasn't sat him down for more games than they already have. But he appears to be a feast or famine player for us at the plate this season: an occasional HR, wrapped up in a lot of strikeouts, pop-up outs and long fly outs...

Wondering if we even get the game in tonight with the severe weather outbreak there.

Holding a top team like Arkansas to 7 runs in 3 games at home should’ve reaped more of a reward than a damn series loss.

And now we're losing to Presbyterian College in the 6th inning. This has to be rock bottom.

I guess, but losing to PC is absolutely putrid. I know we've always dropped at to various in-state schools even when we're good, but those teams are rarely terrible. Usually we're a pretty good squad and drop one to a team that is obviously playing more motivated than we are. Plus, those teams aren't usually terrible in their own rights.

But freakin' PC? When do we ever lose to PC regardless of the context? For God's sake, that school is about 1,500 students max meaning our stadium's capacity is what? Over 2.5x the size of their student body?

I believe every Gamecock team that played tonight won. Baseball, softball (lol Mizzery), tennis (beat the taters to secure the Palmetto Series for the year...again) and men's lacrosse.

And the women's golf team is in first place after 3 rounds today in the SECT, and our top women's golfer on the team just won the individual play championship....
