Kentucky played flawlessly, and USC played tight and afraid. And to be honest, though we have a senior-laden team, they really have never played in significant conference games of note. There's no reason for them to play like they had been there before; they hadn't been.

It was ugly, but the boys really need to bounce back and finish strong this week. Two winnable games coming up, and getting a bye in the SEC Tourney would be big.

Yep, perhaps UK was a monster waiting to awaken - I had concern with playing them so late in the season. They definitely have the talent to win it all. But I've watched a few of their games, and yesterday they looked more balanced and confident in the game-plan, and played with more effort than in any of the other ones I've seen. And of course we played one of our worst games this season against them. A horrible recipe for results Gamecock Nation wants to see, no doubt.

But yeah we have 6 more games to play, with 4 of them against opponents with overall losing records, and the best 2 out of them (I suppose) will be played in CLA. Man games where we should be decided favorites in, but with the way we've played thus far this season, we could win them or lose to them by 20 pts.

Just gotta hope that we keep our confidence, and that we won't be as scared against the remaining teams as we were against UK. None of those teams have the talent of UK, and most likely won't play with the same fire in their bellies either...

yep. it showed, unfortunately. part of the process.

this team has a pattern so far in league play and it held up again Saturday. win 2, lose 1 badly.

as ugly as it was against UK yesterday, Carolina may actually be better off getting humbled before heading into the road game at last place missouri. had USC beaten UK, I was weary of a bad showing and upset next game out against MU, which would be way more devastating than not beating Kentucky.

over the last 4 games, the Gamecocks needed to go at least 2-2 and they did. winning at TxAm and beating LSU gave USC the national media coverage it needed. media doesn't even talk about the loss in Athens and Kentucky beat UF by 19 and Georgia by 36 before beating USC.

I think Carolina finds a way to win the next 3, ugly or otherwise, and break this win 2/lose 1 pattern and sets itself up to make a serious run at the SEC title.

As bad as Mizzou is, they did just snap their futility in-conference streak. I'm curious to see how they respond at home against a USC team that they played very tightly in Columbia month back. It's not a gimme at all.

UF makes NO sense. They kill WVU, but then a scrappy Bama team takes them down at home. Traditionally, USC has played more afraid of Florida than they have UK. I'd like to think that the boys will win that one, but I'm simply not confident.

UTK is garbage on the road, and very small. USC needs to avenge that loss, and in commanding fashion.

I hope so, but the last couple of years have shown this team is a head case. Their confidence sinks or soars based on a single game or two. We are lucky that our next games is vs Mizzou so maybe we'll get our groove back but we've played poorly on the road a good bit this year. (although 'Bama and UGA are proving to be decent teams)

One more win and we take the title all by ourselves this year ... not to mention we're the first team to be the Lady Vols three games in a row since the 80s.

We need to keep winning though ... need that 1 seed and to host a regional. Would like to see us win the SEC tourney too before heading into the big dance.

I do not have a good feeling about this team making it deep into March for some reason though. We seem to be coasting. Maybe they'll get serious once tourney time rolls around.

Starting PG Wes Clark for Mizzou has been kicked off the team due to academic reasons.

I was giving this team the benefit of the doubt after losing in Athens and then winning at TxAM. that's gone away completely after this game tonight. they had managed to not lose back-to-back all season. hoping they can somehow hold it together the final 5 games.
