I agree with all of this, but there are some glaring coaching deficiencies with this team that was graded pre-season #1 (mostly because of talent)
1. We can’t coach a catcher to throw out a base runner
2. We don’t have a left handed pitcher (how the hell does this happen?!?)
3. We are terrible at the plate (probably because we don’t get batting practice with lefty’s). Sure we put up runs, but mostly in bunches after another pitcher has completely shut us down
4. Energy and pride is so low that former great players are calling them out on national media (this very well may be due to losing his father, but life goes on, use it as motivation)
If anyone thinks that getting a pitcher or two back this late in the season will change things, you are living in denial. I think Paul was a great coach, but he’s lost something lately, how long do we wait to see if it comes back?
LSU Baseball is better than this!

Be careful what you wish for.
Hiring a new coach is not easy. Ask South Carolina?
My biggest complaint with PM is not hiring the most qualified assistants.
I think it's admirable he believes enough in ex players to hold crucial positions on your staff but LSU should be able to attract better assistant coaches than former players.
Let them cut their teeth at other places.
The same struggles LSU is having with Ochinko are the same they had with Javy when he was the hitting coach.
They didn't adequately replace Cannizaro when he took MSU gig.
In this day and age with parity. it's not easy to win a national title.

3. Coach PM father passing away. No matter what anyone thinks, it effects him and this season becomes a wash
Anyone that has lost a parent knows the pain here! I just lost my father in law and my dad both unexpectedly within 10 weeks of each other. Two of the strongest men in my life and I'm having a hard time. I never fully understood when someone said losing a parent is something you never get over, well I fully understand it now. Sorry I know I went off the topic to a point here!

Have you guys just given up on coach PM?
I've heard LSU Fans wanting to get rid of PM for at least 3 years now. Even the season we made the natty.

LSU Baseball always has fans who hate CPM. Most fans don't hate him nor do they want him fired. This has been a frustrating season with the main culprit being injuries to pitchers and other starters.
I still hold out hope that we can catch fire next week in Hoover or at a Regional.

I never give up on teams or coaches, but watching the lack of enthusiasm from this team, and the blank look on PM face most games when the Tigers got their shite pushed in concerns me. A head coach that checks out on a team is a recipe for disaster. See our current situation. Hopefully PM can light a little fire for us to make some noise in the post season (if we make it), and if not, it may be time for some new blood at LSU.

Season was snake bit from the start.
Gilbert
Hess
Marceaux
Hill
Hilliard
Walker
Henry
Those are all really good arms that have gotten hurt during the season or haven’t been able to pitch. That alone is devastating.
Add in injuries to position players also and you have a brewing disaster. I’m surprised they have played as well as they have honestly.

His father wasn't young but to my knowledge they were very close. His father, too, was a college head coach and Paul's mentor. I have no idea if that has anything to do with the team's or his struggles. He hasn't said anything about it, so really it's just been people on these message boards trying to come up with reasons for our struggles.

LSU is 5-5 against Louisiana teams this year. Even though those games don't matter in the grand scheme, I bet that doesn't sit well for most LSU fans.

If we had done better in the SEC and not been swept by Texas I honestly wouldn’t care. But there’s a segment of the fan base that definitely cares plenty about midweek games.

Nope I haven’t. Others may have

Would you mind posting those records?
fla 13-13, 10/11/12/15/16/17/18, 1 nc
uva 11-6, 11/14/15, 1 nc
vandy 11-6, 11/14/15, 1 nc
ucla 9-5, 10/12/13, 1 nc
ariz 10-3, 12/16, 1 nc
osu 10-6, 13/17/18, 1 nc
tcu 11-10, 10/14/15/16/17
ark 6-6, 12/15/18
unc 4-6, 11/13/18
lsu 5-7, 13/15/17
fsu 4-6, 10/12/17
msu 5-4, 13/18
tex 3-6, 11/14/18
ttech 2-6, 14/16/18
when considering all aspects of these programs, you can see that lsu's record is falling a bit short of where the premier program should be. this is where the pm crew starts trying to say that lsu isn't the premier program anymore and i have to start listing all the ways that lsu is or that going back to '10 is "cherry picking" and i have to explain that going back another year doesn't really help all that much.

How would it not? He made the CWS in 08 because I was there and he won it in 09. Recently we have lost to the eventual champion 3 times in a row, which tends to cut runs short, but I see what you are saying.

this year it is downright nasty on td. there is a line in the sand and you are either with "us" or "them."

That's pretty much every year with the Big 3.
You don't see "us" vs "them" with Orgeron?
Will Wade? Same thing.

No left handed pitching has come back to bite us this year also. Add that to injuries with your better right handed arms, and I think he has done a pretty good job keeping this team ranked. Bats need to stop being as inconsistent as they have and we could be a tough out in the post season.

If you hsve pitching injuries then you can’t put that on your coach.
