Have you guys just given up on coach PM?

Sure, it’s been a dissapointing season but you are still ranked top 20. I guess not being a top 8 national seed stings but post season is still going to be there for you guys.

I’m one who thinks PM is a fine coach so it seems to me that this is just one of those years everyone goes thru. I mean look at South Carolina, who the hell saw that coming?

My question is, what do you see as the issue right now? (other than bringing up PM).

Their pitching staff is worse off than ours was when Jake had to pitch a few years back. Everyone is hurt.

Think it comes down to three things for this season:

1. Injuries to the pitching staff

2. Current staff makeup

3. Coach PM father passing away. No matter what anyone thinks, it effects him and this season becomes a wash

The idiots have given up yes.

The people who know wtf they are talking about understand the status of our pitching staff.

At the end of the day, we have had series against three top 8 teams and missing anywhere between 1-3 starters haven’t been swept once in SEC

It’s an unlucky year

I haven't given up on him at all. Our issues are that we don't have any leadership or accountability. Our guys don't have any killer instinct and there's just no energy at all on the field. The only game that we showed any real fire was game 1 vs Ole Miss.

Sure, we've had injuries to the pitching staff and also a few key newcomers have been recovering from injuries either from early in the season or off-season surgery. But, every team deals with stuff like that. Paul has not done a good job this season motivating and having the players focused and ready to play game in and game out. We have talent and if we happen to get our pitchers back and can get hot we can still be a dangerous team in the postseason.

Health hasn’t been ideal either. The issue isn’t just this season with PM and LSU fans, though. It’s more than that. Hard to lay it all out. I don’t agree with all of it, but I do think his best days might be behind him. Who knows, though.

I also don’t think there is a chance in hell LSU moves on from him nor should they.

Undoubtedly the pitching staff injuries are the main issue of this season.

Well hell, pitching injuries kills any program. Can’t live on bats alone. That’s not Mainieri’s fault. Any chance any of them will be healthy for Ncaa regionals or are we talking Tommy John Surgery type stuff?

No TJs this year and yes several could be back as soon as the SECT, although I’m not counting on it

We got positive updates on Jaden Hill and Cole Henry today. They could possibly be back for the SEC Tournament. Hill and Henry have looked like our two most talented pitchers this year even though they are both freshman.

So much to talk about right now and you start a thread about the 6th place team.

Which is the answer to your question. Everyone is focused on LSU.

It’s tough to win a World Series every weekend. They got it done in Starkville though.

No. Anyone who honestly thinks CPM should be fired right now, is a moron. Unfortunately theres a large population of morons on the tiger rant.

I would say a majority of LSU fans want him fired. But our fan base is as dumb as it gets. I think he’s a good coach, but i’ll Jump on the wagon with our typical fan if he doesn’t make a deep run at it next year. It’s LSU baseball after all.

depends on who you ask. some people are reasonable about it, some aren't. the debate has ratcheted up over the last few years but this year it is downright nasty on td. there is a line in the sand and you are either with "us" or "them."

i think most reasonable lsu fans would agree with that

he's absolutely one of the best in the game. precisely where he falls is a topic of conversation and it gets compared to where people think lsu needs to be

there's no shortage of opinions on this. the hitting gets criticized A LOT. i'm around the players' families and even they complain about not having a legit hitting coach. however, the pitching has been inexplicable. yeah, there's been injuries but, now pitchers are back and got totally smoked against ark, ole miss, la tech. it's perplexing. proven good pitchers just don't look great right now so fingers are starting to be pointed at dunn, especially with the injuries. others feel that pm has just lost his fire. i'm sure it's a combination of things.

i've said before, the stretch from 2010 to 2016 was unacceptable. zero cws wins on only 2 appearances. then 2017 was probably his best coaching job. everyone knew 2018 was going to be a set up year but this year was supposed to be lights out.

he's done a great job. i just feel like he's fallen a smidgen short of where the program should be over the course of his lsu tenure.

I disagree. The TD portion of our fanbase represents the radical portion at a way higher percentage than what they actually are in the fanbase. I don’t think the majority of the fanbase wants him fired by any means

you say that about the critics but, my conversations with the pm defenders is like trying to reason with 5 year old spoiled brats throwing a temper tantrum. i post w/l records and get raked over the coals, called names, get told i hate lsu, etc.

Well he did win a natty and is highly respected among the coaching pool. If you hsve pitching injuries then you can’t put that on your coach.

As a fellow MSU fan stated, we had a year not long ago where we had pitchers go down left and right. It was a freak thing but then, process of elimination, you are going to have a year where injuries just come in bunches.

We had several years in football same thing. Half the damn team was hurt. But yeah, we had so many pitchers out that coach litterally sat the team down and asked if anyone had pitched in highschool lol. Jake Mangum was first to stand up and pitched 5 shutout innings. That began the talk he was superman.

Anyway, if it looks like you might get several back in time for Sec tourney, I am willing to bet that Mainerie is going to go very lite and make sure they are closer to 100% for regiinals.

Would you mind posting those records? Not sure what in them would indicate that PM is doing a bad job but would love to have a discussion about it
