Given the smelly crow so many on the MSB ate this past season regarding Herbert, I’m prepped for a crap ton of crow being served for the Lawrence naysayers.

Definitely not saying Lawrence will never be a great NFL QB. He has all the tools for it.

I am saying that, considering the talent advantage Clemson had over everyone they played before the playoffs, it's odd his numbers aren't that great.

In 2018 Tua led the country in passer rating at 199.44; Lawrence was 12th at 157.56. He was closer to the 99th rated passer (Kasim Hill) than he was to Tua.

In 2019 Burrow led the country in passer rating at 201.96; Lawrence was 8th at 166.75. He was closer to the 68th rated passer (Zach Smith) than he was to Burrow.

In 2020 Mac led the country in passer rating at 203.06; Lawrence was 12th at 169.18. He was closer to the 54th rated passer (Dylan Morris) than he was to Jones.

His numbers are GOOD, absolutely, but while Tua, Joe and Jones all threw to great WR corps they were also throwing against a lot of highly rated DBs, and standing in the face of highly rated DLs and DEs. They had talent advantages, but nothing compared to how absurd the talent advantage Clemson has over the rest of the ACC.

Found an article that details the average recruiting rankings from 2015 through 2018.
The ACC had three teams make the top 25.
The SEC had ten teams make the top 25.

No one was playing with a more loaded deck than Clemson.

Waddle just won a championship with Mac starting and throwing him passes, of course he's going to say Mac. Smitty just won a Heisman and a Championship with Mac throwing him passes.

I bet you Jeudy and Ruggs would say Tua. It's just one of those things. It's not an indictment on either. I don't see why everyone makes things like this an issue.

Mac and Tua are both 1st round national championship winning QBs. They're both good, and that's ok.

makes perfect sense to me

not sure why Alabama fans would diss one Alabama player in favor of another. It's all crimson and white to me

It's all crimson and white for the players too. They were asked an opinion and they gave it. It doesn't mean they think the other guy sucks. Both their careers speak for themselves.

Just watch the dudes tape vs Trevor Lawrence and tell me what Trevor does better minus running.

I think Trevor is overrated, but come on man. He also has a fricking rocket launcher attached to his shoulder. Can make every throw, including while on the run/under duress.

Mac didn't feel a pass rush the entire season. He might end up great, but his offensive line would've made a bad QB look pretty good. It was maybe the best I've ever seen.

So could JaMarcus Russell. Wasn't he a number one pick too?

From the eye test, Mac is a better passer. I'd take Mac for my team.

If Jamarcus had Trevor's work ethic and moral compass, he likely would've been awesome in the NFL.

So what you're saying is that QBs are often either successful or not based on many outside factors associated with Life circumstances?

so would you go with Mac Jones or Tua Tagovailoa? Both of them kicked Georgia's arse so you are familiar with each of them.

Sark could not have called a worse game that year. I know he had a short time, but at least call options or simple rpos, since Jalen struggled to pass then.

The size of the pocket that Mac was throwing from will not happen in the pros

He hasn’t proven that he can handle a pass rush yet.
