Tua won a national title. Jalen Hurts was never going to miraculously improve in that 2nd half, and it would have been another loss, same as the year before when the offense went 3 and out nine times.

as for Mac or Tua, I'd have to take Mac over an injured Tua and he hasn't been totally healthy since early in his 2nd season at UA. I doubt he'll ever be completely healed from that hip injury.

This is the thing that gets me.

You cannot tell me that Clemson wasn't talented, and quite frankly held a MUCH higher talent advantage over the teams they played as opposed to Alabama playing in the SEC.

One team was typically the #1 rated recruiting class going up against several top 15 classes.

The other was typically top 5, while playing one other team that might get top 20 and the rest hovering in the 30s and 40s, at best.

Yet everyone will gush over Lawrence while diminishing Mac due to "Talent Advantage".

Sorry, but I've watched both throw the ball and Mac has a better arm and better mechanics. Trevor can run, and that's really it. Trevor is a slightly better Manziel (though less prone to self-destruction)

Another bama QB bust.

At least he has two working legs.

If you want to talk about who has the most physical talent throwing the ball, it's easily Tua.

But when it comes to the head, it's not Tua. And when it comes to winning National Championships, you need a guy who makes good decisions and doesn't chase stats/trophies.

To me, things like knowing when to get rid of the ball should be a minimum, yet in the years Tua was there, nobody could teach him how to do it. Nobody could teach him how to not take sacks or try to extend plays and take what the defense gave him. It cost him football games and it cost him his health.

Alabama absolutely had a talent advantage at OL and WR over Clemson. I would say Travis Etienne is better than Najee Harris, but Alabama fans would argue otherwise (sometimes).

Sorry, but that is not true.

Trevor Lawrence is absolutely a better QB prospect.

Mac Jones might end up in a better situation, but Alabama fans always claim their player is better.

That half of football was about his only good game against a better defense. If you know of another, I'm all ears. But the next year he played Georgia in the SECCG and Jalen had to bail him out. And of course, did terrible against Clemson in the NCG(Yet everyone blames the defense), who followed what Miss St as he struggled against them also.

The following year, he fumbles the ball against LSU in the redzone, then throws a int with 20 secs left in the 2nd half from his own 26 on 1st down, leading to a LSU TD before the half, while they get the ball back. The only thing that kept Alabama in that game was Waddle, DeVonta burning the LSU defense twice and Najee Harris. It wasn't until Sark started using Najee more that anything with the offense really happened.

It's a fixable problem and I hope he gets it fixed and goes on to extreme success in the NFL. I pull for him. But "gunslingers" aren't for me.

You Bama fans will never forgive Tua for 2019.

It hurts you so much that he lost to Joey B and LSU.

If you think Coker was a better college quarterback than Tua, then good for you.

I never said Alabama lacked a talent advantage over Clemson.

I'm stating that Alabama's talent advantage vs the teams they PLAYED wasn't as great as the one Clemson enjoyed vs the teams THEY played.

Prospect? Perhaps.
An actual better QB at this time? Only with his feet.

Tua went into that sec title game already injured, then injured the other ankle early in the game. Not sure why you don't acknowledge that simple fact.

I'm a bammer and though I may be proven wrong I think Lawrence will be a better pro player than Tua, Jones, and Burrow.

oh yeah, and he'll be better than Fields

I think I can live with losing 1 game out of 10

eta: especially when you dominate that team 55-17 the next season

What's the excuse for Clemson?

re: Tua or Mac? Waddle Weighs In
I said this last year. Tua was so gifted, so talented but the best qb? No.
He didn't see the field very well. He could be careless with the ball. He also tended to be impatient at times. Helluva arm, my goodness and a great athlete.

In my time watching Bama, since early 70s, I'd put mccarron at one, just a little bit ahead of Mac. Mccarron was a field General, smart, the fiercest competitor I've seen and threw a great ball. Same pretty much with Mac. The bigger the stage, the better they played. People laugh at Coker but that sob played flawlessly down the stretch in 2015. He starts against ole miss and we win. He led a furious 2nd half comeback that fell 7 points short. The biggest games in 2015, at Georgia and Clemson, Coker was MONEY in both.

Tuas qbr in the sec championship and cfp was like a 46.
He disappeared in games with a lot chips on the table.

Yeah, forget everything I said about the year prior to that.

In case your dumbass missed in the past, I thought it was fitting that Burrow won the Heisman by taking what the defense gave him instead of trying to be a hero and create "Heisman moments". He was more deserving and Burrow exhibited the very fricking things I was talking about Tua lacking.

Physically, I think Tua is also more talented than Burrow when it comes to throwing the ball. But there is more to playing the position than throwing the ball.

You can take Tua, and when defenses take away the explosive plays and shut him down when the field gets short, I'll be the guy with a QB who can drive the field, makes smart plays and takes what the defense gives him.

Sounds like you'd also take a RB without even considering what his blocking abilities were.

"You Bama fans will never forgive Tua for 2019."

And u LSU fans will never admit tua had two HUGE unforced errors that cost us the game. I didn't see Mac or AJ throwing it right to a linebacker who was covering no one or dropping the ball walking in the end zone.

If u can't watch AJ, Mac and tua and even Coker... disregard athleticism, arm strength and see who was the better QUARTER BACK then I don't know what to tell u.

Great post and right on, no one knows who will make it bigtime during a long career.

Great QB's come out of nowhere and stud's in college easily become dud's
