Smitty is on record picking Mac already. Not that either said anything bad about Tua, but it says a lot about Mac that both picked him over last year's #5 overall draft pick.

Tua has already been drafted too. They want to help their buddy who hasn't. Seems reasonable but I wouldn't look to much into it.

True...but both could have given the standard "both are great QBs" answer.

I'd take Mac over Tua.

Hell, I'd take AJ and Coker over Tua also.

Mac is Burrow level good. If you go back and watch his tape you will see. He made some damn good throws.

Throwing yes he’s not nearly as athletic as Burrow

That’s a non factor imo. He’s plenty mobile enough in the pocket. Running for first downs isn’t necessary.

Yeah, this would have been a perfectly acceptable answer. Wonder if there's some bad blood there or something

After seeing Tua in the NFL this year I would say Mac too.

Lol, there’s no bad blood. They were being honest, and trying to help Mac out. Most mocks have Mac in the bottom half of round 1/ early 2.

Mac could be the best QB in this draft when it’s all said and done. Just watch the dudes tape vs Trevor Lawrence and tell me what Trevor does better minus running.

How many titles do Cam and Lamar Jackson have?

His quick decision and great OLine made him not have to be athletic. Smart, Great Arm and Survived the entire season. Not a knock on Tua but how often was he 100%?

I've often wondered about locker room chemistry in that regard.

Trevor is a true Clemson system QB. We'll see just how he does in the NFL.

I don't understand the need to compare these two, other than to troll LSU fans. Mac is a pocket passer and was slightly more accurate than Burrow from the pocket in college. Burrow is a dual threat qb, quite accurate from the pocket, don't misunderstand me. But is a better athlete and throws well on the run. They do have some pocket skills in common. Both are good at stepping up from the pressure, and both are quick with their reads, and both have quick releases, but for the most, they take a different approach. Same with comparing Mac to Tua, pocket passer and a dual threat.

So I don’t hate Tua or anything, but he was EXTREMELY overrated. I’d take Mac over Tua, and it’s not even close

You laugh. But Tua never made it through a season healthy as a starter.

Coker didn't start wire to wire, but he was the starter most of the season. And I believe he was undefeated as the starter. We lost to Ole Miss, I believe he came in that game off the bench and we mounted a decent come back but it wasn't enough. The team rallied around him.

Tua didn't do that.

I'll leave the stats darlings to the Texas Techs of the world. Trophies matter.
