Ive been screaming all yr for more 58,50,48.47 combined with 31 and Allen who is finally healthy..
If we adjut to what we showed creatively against ND with 29 hybrid S/ lb in dime or some nickle along witn moody situational for moses..I think we are good to go..Ive have not like 94 starting but this is the one game were he can earn some ...But Fields tucking and running up the middle would require 58 and 50 more often even though his fields ribs might factor..He will have enough meds to not worry about it early on..
One thing golden said that was true is we missed some tackles that would have made a huge difference against fla and ND..
I wont beat up moses but I just hope we use some time outs to get right personnel on some 3rd downs under 6 yrds..

The key for us is not letting their running back run wild like he did vs Clemson.
Agreed

If their running game is gashing us, Fields will have another picnic and we will have to outscore them.
He struggled passing pretty badly against NW and had it not been for Sermon and his 300+ yards, NW might've pulled off the upset. I don't remember if NW adjusted to stack the box or not to stop Sermon, I feel confident that we will make the adjustment though.
I feel better about this game than I did about ND for some strange reason.

my question is, how many holding penalties did the b1g refs ignore on tosu's ol, that allowed sermon to run for 300 yards? we all know the bigten wasn't about to let tosu lose that game.

Anyone else incredibly nervous about this game, or am I the only azzhole.

I’ll be nervous Monday. I usually don’t stress about stuff until it’s really close to happening

We tend to lose the big games I don't feel anxious about. So I'm just trying to rev the nerves early in order to avoid any jinxing. I don't want this on me.

I have a question, decided to post here instead of making a new thread: so the talk about OSU’s defense is that their front 7 is elite and the secondary is their concern. What about their nickel package? Will their NB be a big drop from whomever they drop in terms of talent/ productivity/ reliability on the field?
I assume teams run primarily nickel against our base offense, correct me if I’m mistaken

It has been discussed. Ohio state almost never runs nickel. That is why getting waddle back should be interesting. Not much on tape

That is correct. They've ran nickel formation about 20 percent this season, and they rarely do that with 1st and 2nd down.

I’m no X’s and O’s expert, but would like to get better. With our personnel, is there any obvious mismatch we could look to exploit vs their base defense? I’ve also seen it said that they only run one safety, and 3 corners. Maybe if we can get past their D-line they should be slightly more vulnerable to the run?

Justin Fields is the best QB we've faced since Deshaun Watson.
Burrow and Lawrence are better than Fields.

I will be interested to see if Fields puts any passes up for grabs tonight. Generally speaking this year he has put up one or two bad balls a game especially when under pressure. Even though they blew out Clemson he threw a pick into triple coverage and 2 of his TDS to tight ends were into blanket coverage. He did similar things against NW and Indiana trying to save the play instead of living to fight another down. I’m hoping we get to steal a possession or 2.
I am interested to see how much and how successful Bama is attacking along the edges. WR screens, sweeps etc. It is something OSU has struggled with all year as a trade off on their defensive strategy. It worked for Clemson early on up until things went haywire. I am also interested to see if Sark is able to work out some 1 v 1 matchups outside the numbers with linebackers with Najee or TEs considering how rarely they come out of base personal.
In the end. Like every game it will be won at the line of scrimmage. If we can run they may have to bring safeties closer to the line of scrimmage allowing Devonta and Metchie to win over the top. If not Mac is going to have to be patient working his way down field and reading zone, hitting check downs and WR screens. After watching other teams play OSU, I am interested to see if we dust off any wildcat for the game. People do that against them to gain numbers since they often have 6 or more in the box.
If we can stop the run, I feel like our secondary is better equipped than most to stick with receivers and cause Fields to hold the ball too long and make poor decisions, but of course he could just break contain and wreck havoc if we can’t catch him. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a good bit of designed QB run out of OSU if Fields is healthy.
