Kellen Mond's ancestor was an infamous "slave catcher"

A person had a shitty ancestor they would completely disavow if they knew about them? THIS NEEDS TO BE POSTED NOW

This is stupid. Just have Mond make a public statement apologizing and move on.

I don't know if my ancestors fought in the civil war. They were from Alabama and Arkansas. Would I feel bad if they fought? Nope. Would I feel bad if they didn't? Nope. Life is about what you do, not somebody long ago dead you never even met.
How do we even judge these people? They lived in different times, and judging them by our standards is ridiculous.
Kellen has no control over his ancestors and should not apologize for whatever they did. They weren't horrible people for fighting for their state, allegiance to your state was often more important that allegiance to country at the time.

Yes.
Quite the plot twist.
Apparently one of his Tejano ancestors was the highest ranking Hispanic in the Confederate army. And was routinely compensated for catching and returning runaway slaves.
History is fascinating.

Needs to be told to Kellen and all his supporters wanting sully and all these other monuments of history taken down. You don’t judge far past people on today’s standards and just “erase” history.
I think it is hilariously ironic, but doesn’t change or invalidate his opinion. He’s his own person and free to choose what he wants to do.
It’s just funny that some people don’t study their own family history, and even less of our entire nation’s history, before trying to convince everybody else they should see the world the way they do.
